| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review More prolific than D'Angelo and Terence Trent D'Arby combined, one-man rock soul revivalist Lenny Kravitz kept traditional pop values alive through much of the 1990s. From the Motown-perfect "It Ain't Over Til It's Over" to the Beatlesque "Let Love Rule", Kravitz has always inhabited his influences with a genuine spirit that transcends imitation. The 15 tracks found on IGreatest Hits/i provide a surprisingly coherent reminder of just how much the artist has accomplished in a relatively short time. And even if "Are You Gonna Go My Way" falls short of its Hendrix target, Kravitz's cover of the Guess Who's "American Woman" still rocks in a pleasingly Neanderthal way. An infectious new cut, "Again", fits neatly alongside sturdy Kravitz originals like "Fly Away", "Mr. Cab Driver" and "Black Velveteen", showcasing a talent whose post-modern pop should play well into the new century. Stumbled upon a classic album February 19, 2001 jbjandtxf@hotmail.com (London) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
A few months ago, I was trying to think who sung that song 'Fly Away'. I soon found out it was Lenny himself and knew that I loved his song 'Are You Gonna Go my Way' aswell. I had some extra cash lying around that I wanted to spend on music so I thought, what the hell and bought this album. I wasn't at all sure what to expect, because I had only heard of two of his songs before, the two mentioned, so it was kind of a stab in the dark.pI'll say now that I am thoroughly glad I did purchase this. I was highly pleased with every single song on this CD, I particularly like American Woman, Rock and Roll is Dead, Mr Cab Driver and Always on the Run.pLenny does a great job and this CD definitely does hold his greatest hits. It's certainly worth buying, even if you're not a particularly huge fan. I wasn't, but this album changed that. If you liked his more famous 'Are you Gonna go my Way' and 'Fly Away', you will most definitely like all the other songs on this album. Easily worth a high position on your CD rack.
Opening the publics eyes to Lennys outstanding melodies... November 28, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
After buying this album out of pure curiosity, I have began to probe the entire beat pallette Lenny has to offer. Mixing 90's hip hop with 'Shaft' style getaway music this is a highly motivated choice. A must for any person who appreciates good music.. You too will find yourself endulging in this album more than you could possible imagine. It's got a little something for all warps of life...
a brilliant cross generic music album blend of musical style September 11, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This still remains at the very top of my CD rack! I love this CD, on a simple fluke purchase on the basis of the few songs I knew I found myself coming across a brilliant cross generic music album, the guy is so cool. often compared to Jimi Hendrix, Lenny Kravitz is our modern day mr cool with a brilliant blend of musical styles, ballads and anthems this is an album to get!
overall very good, must buy. November 12, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
just as you think youve heard the best song on the album you are amazed to find the next track even better. this album features his new release 'again'. this is posibly the best album I have heard. it contains rock, jazz and even a romance songs. the album contains classics like fly away, american woman and let love rule. you must buy this album.
buy this now! October 9, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
lenny kravitz has, in my opinion, never recieved the recognition he deserves. this album highlights his talent and shows how he has changed throughout the years. stand out tracks include 'Let Love Rule', 'Are you gonna go my way?' and the well-known 'fly-away'. Its hard to pin lenny kravitz down to one particular genre. He covers everything from soul to hard-rock (via funk, RnB and dance music). This is what makes him great. The only down fall about purchasing this album is the fact that you will have to shell out another £50+ on his five previous albums!
