Amazon.co.uk Review
How to follow the phenomenally-successful iThe Chronic/i album must have caused superstar rap producer Dr Dre more than a few sleepless nights. Five years on, for i2001/i he's gathered a plethora of prime, new rap talent around him, including his prodigy-of-the-moment, Eminem, and Xzibit (who duet on boombastic anthem "What's The Difference?"); and is reunited with former compadres Snoop Dogg, Kurupt and MC Ren. While the lyrical preoccupations remain the same--sex, sess (marijuana), girls, guns and cars--the predictably flawless production has been cranked up way beyond the G-Funk formula that found him fame. "Still D.R.E." is driven by the persistent pluck of a harmonium; "Light Speed" is all spooky, retro-future funk; and "Forgot About Dre" boosts kinetic, Timbaland-style beats with insistent strings and squalls of guitar. All in all, there's more than enough on here to satisfy the hardcore that Dre is back and business is booming. i--Chris Campion/i

Amazon.co.uk Review
Despite the number of guests on hand, Dr. Dre's decade-/century-/millennium-ending sequel to IThe Chronic/I is, like its predecessor, less a stack of posse cuts and more an elegantly seamless work from West Coast hip-hop's premier auteur. Deliberately cinematic in everything from its mix of moods to dramatic musical surges, I2001/I is Dre's assessment of the gangsta life in medium shots. No longer fully immersed in violence and random sex, yet aware of their attraction, he often lets his guests blow steam about whatever is on their minds. When he takes stock of gangbanging circa late 1999, though, he drops his neutral tone; he even provides another half-joking but stern warning to protégé Eminem on "What's the Difference". Between his discovery of Slim Shady, visits from old pal Snoop Dogg, and, most of all, the masterful sound and flow of this CD, Dre should shut down all talk of his supposed irrelevance. --IRickey Wright/I

5 out of 5 stars Absolute Classic!!!   November 28, 2005

This ablum has got to be the best album that I own, It has everything an album needs to be a classic. All of the tracks are so different and the production on the album is second to none. I have just attempted to write my favourite track#x27;s but decided against it because I would just be writing the whole playlist!!! This album is essential for any Hip-Hop fan. But beware, if you will be offended by VERY bad language and some quite gritty, leaving nothing to the imagination lyrics-this isn#x27;t for you!!

5 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT WESTCOAST ALBUM   January 30, 2006

this album brilliant, dr dre proving he really is the best producer ever, even though dr dre doesnt write his own lyrics, they are written by everyone on 2001 who is not dr dre, and dr dre only does 2 songs by himself without any guest appearances, the production is what really stands out, every beat is banging, and varied, there are some relaxed beats which u can just listen to, and club beats which get you bouncing, dr dre delivers his trademark g-funk production on this, and even though people think the chronic stands out as dr dres best, i think this is better than the chronic, there are some really good guests on it such as xzibit, eminem, snoop dogg and hitman, and even though the subject matter is noraml rap topics, this is a great album to dance to at any party or club and overall this is a great album any rap fan should get,

This album is probably one of my favorite rap albums along with doggystyle, the chronic and 2pac greatest hits. The production is top notch and the beats are very catchy. Still dre has a very catchy beat with good lyrics and is to show people that dre is back. if you liked the chronic you will like this. He has also got heaps of great rappers on here such as snoop dogg, nate dogg, eminem, kurupt etc. A+++++++++++++++++++

Anyone who doesn't own this album doesn't know what they are missing. Dre has made a dramatic comeback with this huge album, all tracks are excellent with a beat that you'll never forget, the lyrics are soo true and you can really relat to them. Dre, Snoop Dogg and all of the others on this album deserve a medal for all their hard work. It was definitely worth it! For once this is actually quality music from artists with real talent! Hopefully this will continue to make an impact on music this century! I couldn't live without this album! My favourite tracks are The Watcher, F**k You, Still Dre, Forgot About Dre and Message. Those are just a few of my fav.s and the rest of the album is just as good! Definitely the best album ever! And seeing as I wasn't a huge fan of RB and rap, this has had an amazing effect on me! Now I can't get enough of it!
