Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars By far the best duo thats ever happened!!   March 1, 2001

I was raised on Hall Oates so this may be a bit biased but I can bet that theirs very few people that don't know one of there songs. With this album you will be suprised how many HO tunes you actually know and you won't stop singing. Lord it up and buy it.

4 out of 5 stars best of the best ofs   April 5, 2001

Finally, a best of to beat 'rock n'soul'. You don't get the truncated 'She's gone', but you do get the single version of 'O.O.T.' and 'Method...'. Only a four star review because they didn't make the effort to include a single non-RCA item. Buy this 'Abandoned Luncheonette' and you'll have all you'll need to know about these two.

4 out of 5 stars Sharp pop   September 22, 2009

Hall Oates actually managed to produce some pop records that have stood the test of time. They have a distinctive sound, and some of the numbers on this CD have the sound without the inspiration, but some have the inspiration too and are thus more than the sum of their parts. Good, solid practitioners - if somewhat given, you may notice from the liner notes, to comparing themselves positively with forerunners such as Lennon and MacCartney. The 80s was such a dismal decade: this too helps the duo to stand out as something almost wonderful.
