Amazon.co.uk Review Give Eve credit for not succumbing to hip-hop's fickle feminine fetishisation. While Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim have degenerated into scantily clad clichés, Eve (the self-described "pitbull in a skirt") has maintained her rougher edge without sacrificing a whit of her sexy energy. "Pretty with the heels on, or shitty with the Timbos," is how she puts it on "Gangsta Bitches", one of the standout tracks from IScorpion/I, her second album. Eve's clearly progressed as a lyricist, though her flow is occasionally on-the-beat clunky. That aside, she switches easily from anti-hater anthems ("Cowboy") to bitter revenge fantasies (the power-guitar-driven "You Had Me, You Lost Me") to straight-up bragging ("Got What You Need"). Throughout, she's assured and poised, matching Teena Marie's manic torch-song energy on "Life Is So Hard" and outshining most of her Ruff Ryder partners elsewhere. But, secure as she may be, Eve realizes that the game doesn't always last: "I'm trying to make a quick flip, nigga. Can you dig this?" she asks on "Cowboy". Sexy and smart. What's not to dig? I--Jon Caramanica/I

Great !! September 29, 2001 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
'Who's that girl?' Eve's stunning debut single, from the multi-acclaimed "Scorpion" album - since then she released the awesome follow-up, the top-ten hit, "Let me blow ya mind", which went on to award success. Eve is the latest "R 'n' B" 'craze', and her top-twenty album underlines her dominance in "R 'n' B". Although she had two big hits, the other songs could also perform that fate.br Everyone in the music industry wants a piece of Eve's success - there are seven different producers on the album, and in many songs she sings duets. Eve is not for everyone - the logo in the bottom-right corner deters away pre-teenagers and their parents. However, anyone who likes "R 'n' B" will like this album - if artists such as 'P-Diddy', 'De la Soul' 'Nelly' and 'LL Cool J' are your 'cup of tea' than you'll need this album.br A good album, which gets better with time, a must for the true "R 'n' B" fanatic.
eve is doing one for the ladies April 6, 2006 tracy (scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
ive had this album for ages now and every now and again i play it from start to finish! i have a massive collection of rap/rnb albums and this is one of my faves. its refreshing to hear what a woman has to say for change. the production on this album makes it truly amazing. id find it hard to choose a favourite song, best ones are you had me, you lost me, gangsta bitches, got what you need (classic song in any club), scream double r. i think i like this album so much as eve is reppin for the ladies out there who enjoy hip hop and she's proving on this album she will give any pig headed, sexist man a run for their money anyday by spitting awesome hard hitting lyrics.
Hot new talent, sure to rock your world June 18, 2001 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Eve is a new name on the British RB scene, but has made in big in the States already. Her funky album, Scorpion is a mixture of pure RB grooves, with a funky and up beat edge. This album is a must for any RB fan. She prooved her popularity at Jam in the Park, at Finsbury, and is sure to make it large in the UK.
An excellent follow up album March 4, 2001 This album is outstanding, much better than her first album. All the songs are good, with tight production and dope lyrics. 'Scream Double R' with DMX, is probably the best song on the album. There are appearences by all of the Ruff Ryder family, and all the songs are phat. Fans of Eve's first album will love this, and any rap fan will enjoy it. Defenitely a must-buy.
Tight follow-up from RR's #1 bee-atch! April 18, 2001 luke.morgan-rowe@talk21.com (London, UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was most impressed with E-v-e's style on this joint. Lyrically 10 times better than her 1st album, beats are similar to any RR album: dope. Only one difference on this album, we heard some Dre production, which is a novelty for a RR joint - Eve the doc must be remenising on their past days [she started her career as 'Eve Of Destruction' with Dre]. Answer me this: when will Dre produce a new beat? Not dissing him or anything, but all of is production I've heard recently has been copies of his ish on 2001 - same on Eve's album - although his beats are dope, I've heard them before!! Anyway, here is a brief track rundown:p1. Intro - wow! what an inspiring intro [being sarcastic].p2. Cowboy - tight Swizz beat, hardcore stylee with nice flows.p3. Who's That Girl - I like this one, a nice spanishy feel - adds a touch of class to the album and makes u feel good.p4. Let Me Blow Ya Mind - this is the first of the Dre beats. Same as The Message on 2001 - nice feel good track.p5. Skit - Great. like we need these all important skits.p6. You had me - The first dissapointing track. Tacky beat disgusting chorus. This song lost 1 whole star 4 Eve!p7. Got What U Need - Nice to see that Swizz can make a feel good track. A dope beat with a tight tune. Will brighten the darkest of days.p8. Skit - see 5.p9. Gangsta Bitches - Typical RR tune [from Swizz ofcourse] with some tight lyrics from Brat, Trina and Eve. Sounds like '2 tears in a bucket' from RR Vol.2.p10. That's what it is - 2nd of the Dre's. Dope track, sounds like 'The Watcher' on 2001.p11. Scream RR - Hailed as the 2nd RR anthem. But I don't think much of this track - messy beat average lyrics. Dissapointing from the dawg. p12. Thug in the street - Typical hardcore, gangsta, RR tune. Alright.p13. No No No - I like this one, a lot. Good to see Eve enjoying herself, and I think everybody on first hearing will be thinking: damn, where have I heard this hook?!.p14. 15. 16. These three tracks are a disgrace to Rap. Absolutely no comment - they don't deserve it. I have omitted them from my mind, hence I am not judging the album on them.p17. Love Is Blind (remix) - The only difference is that the hook is sung differently. However, this is a true Eve classic - i love this song.p18. Got It All - Dope track. Nice to hear Eve Kiss having an 'on-track' battle - kinda funny.pIn summary: This is a tight RR album from one of the best females in this game, with a few refreshing differences. A must get.
