5 out of 5 stars A brilliant album...   February 14, 2004

I had not listened to any of Melissa's music since the "Breakdown" CD...it's hard to keep up to date when she's never in our news much. brI bought this CD the same time I bought her latest album "Lucky". I like this CD a lot! It's intense and passionate and has a certain indescribable edge to it. Listening to the CD is like going through a journey, as a lot of Melissa's albums do. This leaves you with a "wow" factor.brMy favourite tracks are "The Prison", "It's Only Me", "I Want To Be In Love" and the wonderful "The Different", that has a sort of tribal, throaty drumbeat throughout. brA very very good album that doesn't get boring after many plays.

5 out of 5 stars Burns into the heart like a hot branding rod!   November 11, 2001

Thank you Melissa. This is the most personal, intimate and revealing album I've heard in years. Few songwriters brave such self-exposure for the sake of their music. This is at once raw and finessed. Mixed musical styles. Lyrics which are triumphant even through their pain. Pure inspiration - and a gift for her fans who have waited to 'listen to her soul'. My only regret is the price she pays in life for such moving work. If you're thinking of buying this album, don't think, just buy it.

5 out of 5 stars A 'Must' for everybody's record collection !!   May 7, 2002

This is the first cd by Melissa Etheridge that I have purchased and I'll definitely be buying more. It is absolutely excellent from the first note to the last. brI liked all the tracks but if I had to choose my favourites so far they would be:brThe Prison... a haunting song with lyrics that touched my soul.brIt's Only Me... Wonderful, poignant and deeply moving.brPlease Forgive Me: I loved the sound of this track and the lyrics are breathtaking. brI love the other tracks equally as much and together they make Skin an absolute must for your collection. My words don't do it justice. brMelissa's voice is soulful, raw, full of passion and yet vulnerable too. I can't stop playing this since I bought it:-)brTreat yourself and buy it!!

Well... If i could swear about it here I would as it is F.....FANTASTIC! This is a well deserved buy. It is so hard to describe this album apart from that each song is very individual, strong and obviously personal which gives the album it's superb heart-felt edge. I'll say it again, this is FANTASTIC!

5 out of 5 stars The Real Melissa is Back!   August 12, 2001

At last an album that can compare to the likes of 'Melissa Etheridge' and 'Brave and Crazy'. This is what I became a fan of Melissa Etheridge for. At last she seems to have lost the commercial side of her music and is singing from the heart. A superb buy.
