5 out of 5 stars The Boss still rules!   October 22, 2001

The Boss is back! And despite the fact that this is her upteemth greatest hits package, this is the most complete yet. I would certainly recommend any Diana Ross fans (and non-Diana Ross fans for that matter) to buy this, especially those who bought her last greeatest hits album ('One Woman'). For the first time ever, almost every Diana Ross hit is there - from the early Supremes favourite to the exellent new single 'Goin' Back'. The only hit that isn't there is her version of 'I will survuve', but then again, with so many decent songs, spanning 5 decades, one can't really complain. CD1 contains her more dancey tracks-from the Supremes Motown classics to her 1999 hit 'Not over you yet' (not her best effort). As usual, 'Upside Down' and 'I'm coming out' are there. However, there are also some singles from her Eaten Alive album from the 1980s which hadn't been availble previously on a greatest hits album. My favourite however, has to be the very underrated opener 'Chain Reaction' , produced by the Bee Gees. Over on CD2 (the ballads), 'Theme from Mohogany' still sounds as fresh as ever. And a personal favourite of mine, 'Remember Me' from her early days as a solo artist, is also there. Her duets with Lionel Richie and Marvyn Gaye are also included for the first time together on one CD. All in all, this is a fine compilation album which is very good value for money. OK there are some dodgy tracks (like 'Work that body' or 'Muscles' - even the names make you cringe), but if you are new to her music, then this is the ONE album you should buy. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic   February 13, 2005

Thank god this was released. Don't get me wrong. The One Woman collection was great except it was very unfulfilling. Here we have (almost) all of her best songs (except for a few on the Love disc). From the classic 'You Can't Hurry Love' to the fantastically camp Work That Body, every Diana fan needs to have this. However, was it really necessary to have mediocre tracks on what would have been a perfect collection (eg the godawful One Shining Moment)?pBest track: You Can't Hurry Love on the Life disc and I'm Still Waiting on the Love disc.pWorst track: Force Behind the Power on the Life disc and One Shining Moment on the Love disc.pHow many good tracks?pLife disc: 21 out of 22pLove disc: 14 out of 19

5 out of 5 stars One Of Musics Biggest Legends at her Best   July 24, 2003

After so many Greatest hits, its hard to believe that this one is better than all the others but what else could this compilation be other than brilliance. This includes her memorable work with the Supremes such as the brilliant UK #1 "Baby Love", the unforgetable "Where Did Our Love Go" and of course the masterpiece "You Can't Hurry Love". The Supremes were amazing to the last drop but I cherish the music of Diana's solo career such as the wonderful "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" or the catchy and upbeat sounds of "Upside Down" and I will also put in a good word for "I'm Coming Out", "Work That Body" and "Aint No Mountain High Enough". It's not only some brilliant dance numbers but the ballads are true classics with Miss Ross, Diana's duet with Lionel Richie "Endless Love" is my personal favourite duet and I've heard plenty, and you should try other ballads such as "Touch Me in The Morning" and the moving "When You Tell Me That You Love Me". With any album there are some less striking tracks such as "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" which is spoiled by the awful voice of the Temptation's lead singer. My favourite song on this album is "Chain Reaction", a wonderful and unforgetable song that was written by disco legends the Bee Gee's. I hope this review has helped you as I certainly did not regret purchasing this album and I hope you won't either.
