Amazon.co.uk Review
Following the demise of B*Witched, the Irish pop world was looking for a new young female to step into the fray. Enter Samantha Mumba, with her sparkling debut single "Gotta Tell You" which went straight to the upper echelons of the pop charts--a delicious slice of sunny pop that brightened up the Summer of 2000. Her debut album of the same name opens with that track, swiftly followed by her second single, "Body II Body" which came with the seal of approval of David Bowie who allowed her to heavily sample "Ashes To Ashes" for its central loop. The rest of the material is an even mix of sweet RB and upbeat infectious pop, which can't fail to beguile and enchant the listener. IGotta Tell You/I is an extremely confident debut, closing as it does with a rousing cover of Motown standard "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"--a feat few girls of Samantha's age could carry off with such aplomb. Debut albums rarely come this consummate. --IHelen Marquis/I

5 out of 5 stars Groovy!!!   March 2, 2001

From reading some other customer reviews, i think this album is underrated. Not all of the songs are single quality but there is certainly no 'weak' tracks and its a very upbeat, fun album. Out of the 14 songs (and one remix) there are only 2 ballads. They are surprisingly good!! 'Lately' is a fantastic cover version and 'Never meant to be' is one of my fave songs on the album!! 'Baby come on over' is rumoured to be the next single which is great, but not one of my VERY faves on the album, they are Beleive in me, Isnt it strange, Til the night becomes day and Lose you again! But unlike Britney and Christina's albums there are no songs i want to skip!!! My advice is, if you liked any one of her singles you should like at least a handful of the songs. If you liked them all then you should fall in love with it!!

If you are thinking, just another Britney or Christina then think again. Pop, Soul, RB, rock chucked in with a couple of ballards, making this album a treat for all music lovers. pIf you enjoy what you hear on the radio of Samantha's then things only get better. Not a bad track on the CD. Classical covers of 'lately' 'signed, sealed deliverd' along with a truley great sample of David Bowies 'Ashes to Ashes',mixed in with some funky tunes of her own.pDo not underestimate this girl, I am sure she will be around for longer than people expect. 10 times more talented than Britney and our princess of pop Billie

5 out of 5 stars Samantha's Stunning Debut !!!   October 29, 2000
i think everyone knew that Samantha was going to be a big star when we all heard Gotta Tell You it was the best pop song out since Britneys infamous Baby One More Time Now that she has just released Body 2 Body we know thats she's gonna be around for a long time (not so surprising seeing that Louis Walsh is her manager) This debut album has it all pop, funk, soul, u name it, it's on there! the CD ROM features are a nice added bonus too! This is a really well rounded album, which most pop lovers will really enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars An overall good variety of music   October 30, 2000
For an artist from ireland it is good to hear a good variety in Samantha Mumbas music. Usually the sounds from groups in Ireland are very pop or are ballards. Well done to Sam for being brave enough to enter into the hardest business out there. At the moment she has got alot of competition. Well Done
