THIS ALBUM IS EXCELLENT !!! February 15, 2002 emily_bennett8@hotmail.com (Leeds, England) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This CD is great to relax and chill out to. It is completely different to his work in BON JOVI. It is the more natural, subtil side to Dvid Bryan.
Introducing Mr David Bryan, Bon Jovi's best kept secret! May 19, 2003 E. L. Day (Reading, Berkshire) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Why oh why has the ridiculous talent of David Bryan been kept hidden away for so long? I bought this album out of a mixture of favouritism and curiosity, as I have confessed to having a soft spot for the man himself. I read other reviews that said that it would make a great chill out album and as I have GCSEs coming up and I'm a huge Bon Jovi fan it made sense to check it out. Since doing this I have totally fallen in love with it and even listen to it when I'm not revising! It is very soothing and it is the sort of gorgeous, piano led music that is the total opposite to Bon Jovi. In the band, David is quite often ignored because of bigger names in the band but this album shows that he can more than hold his ground if given a chance.p'Second Chance' is a great opener, it isn't as fast as some of the other songs but it sets the mood brilliantly. Just close your eyes and imagine David at his grand piano...beautiful.br'I can Love#8217; is a bit more up-tempo than the first song and has a very positive mood to it.br'It#8217;s a Long Road' is very powerful; it seems to take you on a musical journey through what David was feeling at the time. Once again it#8217;s beautiful.br'On a Full Moon' is quiet and very fast moving but you get a sense of power in the way that it is played with the tempo changing for effect.br'April' Well, what can I say? Judging by the passion that David puts into this song I would say that his wife is a lucky woman! Strong and beautifully played.br'Kissed by an Angel' is obviously about his wife again but instead of strong and passionate, this song is tender and sweet#8230;.bless him! br#8216;Endless Horizon#8217; starts quietly but becomes stronger as it is played. It goes on as a fast yet soothing track.br#8216;Lullaby for Two Moons#8217; judging by the name, I would say that this track is about David#8217;s twin children, and lullaby is a good name. It is quiet and soothing and could easily be used to fall asleep to. Absolutely gorgeous.br#8216;Interlude#8217; Does exactly that. It is a piece of music to break up the album and is very slow and almost oriental sounding.br#8216;Room Full of Blues#8217; I love this track! It is a bluesy, jazzy sort of piece that makes you want to get up and move. It shows David#8217;s flexibility as a pianist. Brilliant!br#8216;Hear our Prayer#8217; is another slow and soothing track that is brilliant to unwind to. It once again shows David#8217;s talents as a classically trained pianist. Fantastic.br#8216;Summer of Dreams#8217; is an up-tempo and uplifting piece. It really gives you a sense of what he was feeling when he wrote it, there#8217;s just something about it that makes you look toward the future.br#8216;Up the River#8217; is short but inspiring. It#8217;s slow but seems to move along quickly and smoothly.br#8216;Netherworld Waltz#8217; is the only track on the album to have a full backing band. There are strings and woodwind instruments along with a slow beat and a brilliant saxophonist. Calling it a waltz is definitely a good way of describing it as it is the sort of song you could slow dance to. Gorgeous!br#8216;In These Arms#8217; any Bon Jovi fan will know this song straight away. It#8217;s an absolutely gorgeous song written mainly by David with help from Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. The band version can by found on #8216;Keep the Faith#8217; by Bon Jovi but after hearing both versions many, many times David#8217;s version has to take my favour. The only track on #8216;Lunar Eclipse#8217; with vocals, it#8217;s just David and his piano and it is absolutely brilliant! David has obviously decided to do it his way as the structure of the song is slightly different and some of the lyrics differ. David sings with a genuine passion and has a brilliant voice that just does it for me!brBon Jovi fans should check out what their favourite keyboard player is capable of and stop focusing on Jon Bon Jovi so much!brAll in all, this is a brilliant album and I would recommend it to people who like to be soothed by music and general music fans who want to hear a master at work!
wonderful work, very inspiring.... March 28, 2002 Yankton (North West, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I wasn't sure about this album when I learned it was instrumental, but felt sure Dave would not let us down. This is a wonderful album, again very different from Bon Jovi, I feel with this album he really proves himself to be a very technical pianist as well as all out rocker.pThis album is relaxing and uplifting and comes highly recommended by me!
Bon Jovi isnt just Jon!! February 17, 2001 lynsey@morrison265.fsnet.co.uk (Scotland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
David Bryan should stop hiding behind Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, this album shows off his talent for piano, and also his voice (last track). One track that sticks out is 'Room Full Of Blues', the only real blues song on the album, and its adds a touch of flare to it by all means!! 'In These Arms' has been tweeked a bit from Bon Jovi's version, but it is a really lovely change. A piano effect and a change of voice really does change it. 'On a Full Moon' is one of the albums' best. Buy this album, but don't expect anything like Bon Jovi or Richie Sambora.
Beautiful !!! December 18, 2002 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was a bit uneasy when i finally brought myself to buy this album, but i am so glad i did. It could be categorised as a chillout album, which is exactly what i use it for, and it feels great! Just close your eyes and relax to the sound to the smooth harmonic pieces of music that are rolled off by Mr Bryan with immaculate ease. The music flows around the room, and you can just sense the pride, passion, soul, talent and sheer expertise that has gone into the making of this wonderful creation of musical euphoria.brThe last song is great too, with a marvellous vocal rendition of "In these arms", beautifully sang and played by Dave.brA must for all Bon Jovi fans, and also anyone who feels they need to experience a master at work.
