5 out of 5 stars Les Mis   December 26, 2003

OK as no one has written a review for this i suppose no one wants to buy it but i'll tell u its a really good musical!! I first heard the music as my school performed the play and i thought it was amazing!! The music is quite emotional as nearly all the characters die - but still its great!! There's soft, sweet songs and other stronger, dramatic songs!! I suppose it might be better if you've seen the musical as them you know the stary and know the meaning on the films but still everyone will like it a lot!!!! It's quite a cliched musical with lots of love and deaths and melow, expected songs!!!! Still its excellect and give it a go!!!(P.S - if u don't like it don't blame me becuase this is just my own opinion - i know somw people won't like it but please try it!!!!!)

5 out of 5 stars Les Miserables cd   September 26, 2009

I was very much satisfied with my purchase of Les Miserables cd. It is an excellent example of great performances. When I play this cd, put on my headphones and close my eyes I have the feeling that I am at the live performance. Totally satisfied and I enjoy listening to it every day.

4 out of 5 stars Good for what it is   February 24, 2005

Let me start out by saying that this is NOT a cast recording. It is basically a CD of Claire Moore (created the role of Ellen in Miss Saigon and later played Fantine in London) and Dave Willetts (Phantom of the Opera, Valjean in Les Mis) doing duets. The orchestrations aren't that good because of course it isn't anywhere near a full orchestra- just a few instruments. I will not be reviewing this album as if it is a full production because it is not- it is mainly for fans of Claire Moore and Dave Willetts. You will find some songs strange, like "At the End of the Day" and "Do you Hear the People Sing", because they were songs previously written for many people, but they are done only by this duo. Once you get used to it, however, it's pretty nice.pI think that this CD is only for die hard fans of Les Mis or for fans of Claire Moore/Dave Willetts. It isn't bad, but I don't think it really embodies the beauty of Les Mis. The solos are gorgeous- Claire Moore has such a light and pretty voice, and Dave Willetts is also worth listening to. "Bring Him Home" is very good, and so is "Drink with me." "Master of the House" is amusing because Willetts uses this accent and the way he phrases things are amusing. "Empty Tables at Empty Tables" seems to be lacking something- it sounds like Dave is just singing the song but not really putting much thought into the character of Marius, but who can blame him? It's hard to play everyone on a recording. :-)pClaire Moore's best songs are "I Dreamed a Dream" and "On My Own." Her "In My Life" is half-baked; it doesn't have that much emotion in it although her voice is pretty.pAs I said, only for obsessive les mis collectors like myself.
