5 out of 5 stars Excellent!   August 27, 2003

I like rock, not country, but recently I've been hearing a lot of country on Yahoo Launch. Some of it piqued my interest, so I bought an album...this album - No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems. What a fabulous find! There's raw emotion here that you don't get from rock or pop. And, it's here without excuse. pThere's not a dull moment on the whole album. I'll be buying more Kenny Chesney albums, that's for sure.

5 out of 5 stars Country At Its Best!   November 25, 2003

'No shoes, No shirt, No Problems' is one of Kenny Chesney's best albums and provides a perfect showcase of his music for the first time buyer. The album includes some of Kenny's biggest hits including the energetic 'Young', the smash hit 'The Good Stuff', 'Big Star' and the poignant'A Lot of Things Different'. The latter combines the traditional country style of half talking, half singing the song with old style country lyrics full of regret and longing. Chesney's style and vocals on this track are reminiscent of a young George Strait. The title track will take the listener to the Carribean shores that Kenny loves so much with white sands and blues seas. The excellent 'Never Gonna Feel That Way Again' and 'Live Those Songs' will take you on a drive down memory lane. The former is a traditional style country song and the latter cranks up the guitars. An impressive album to start your Kenny chesney collection, the CD will leave you wanting more. Simply, Country music at its best.

4 out of 5 stars Sail back to the coast of somewhere beautiful with Kenny   July 22, 2002

Listening to Kenny Chesney's NO SHOES, NO SHIRT, NO PROBLEM is like embarking upon a boat and sailing back to the person who you left behind to run on the coast of somewhere beautiful.pThe CD begins with Young about way back when and how much fun it was being rebels without a clue, typical cross-over country-rock fare. Yet Chesney has much more to offer when he wistfully walks down memory lane, remembers and regrets lost loves, wrong choices, and fateful hesitations in beautiful sad songs like I Remember, On the Coast of somewhere beautiful, Never Gonna feel that way again, A Lot of Things Different, One Step Up, and I Can't Go There, Youthful carefreeness and craziness replaced with a longing for persons and places lingering in one's memory never to be lived with and in again.pBig Star is the one throwaway song in the CD, although Dreams and Live Those Songs could also have been left out or less formula written.pThe highlight of the CD is The Good stuff, a paen to memories of a wonderful woman and a wonderful marriage, a song that will be of comfort to those who have lost a dear one to cancer and from life. A song that will live a long time.pThe general tenor of the CD is nostalgic with songs reminiscing of a life filled with regret that has one wanting to get way and wishing to waste carefree laid-back days on a boat off the coast of Mexico, to sip margaritas, listen to Jimmy Buffet with No Shoes, No Shirt, No problems.

4 out of 5 stars Country rocks!   November 4, 2003

i wholeheartedly agree with the reviewer from Reading.I heard a Chesney single whilst on holiday in the US and so good was it that I bought this album on the strength of it.It is a belter. It is tuneful, varied and a classy piece of work. And somehow it remains 'country' throughout, despite the variety of styles, such as driving guitars, hard beat, ballad, laid -back whimsy and others.pIn true country style,it comes a bit close at times to being sentimental rather than emotional, but does not quite tip over the edge. The songs are intelligent,amusing,thought-provoking,evocative ,well played, and well sung.brIf you thought country was not for you, give this a try.
