Amazon.co.uk Review
IDestination/I, the latest release from Ronan Keating, has a fair number of great guitar-pop songs thrown in for good measure--a winning formula Keating learned from his first album IRonan/I--which keep things moving along nicely here. For fans who fell for the catchy charms of "Rollercoaster" and "Lovin' Each Day" (featured here again), the opening track "I Love it When We Do" has all the same qualities: from a jiggy country-pop groove to the kind of melody that can only be sung with a big cheesy grin on your face.p The first single taken from the album is the ballad "If Tomorrow Never Comes"--a pleasant enough tune with a very mature vocal from Keating and some great harmonies although, sadly, it's not quite up there with "When You Say Nothing At All". Still, it's much better than the average wet-slop that can dribble out of a less experienced pop idol.p With no misguided directions in style, or the sort of experiments that would make him cringe in years to come, Ronan's found what he likes and he's doing it well--a complete departure from teen pop, heading more for a David Gray sound. It seems he's found his IDestination/I somewhere in the middle-of-the-road and it's miles away from his former band mates. --IDavid Trueman/I

5 out of 5 stars The freshest collection of feel-good music you'll ever find   May 21, 2002

This "Destination" is somewhere you will want to arrive at - and stay there for a long time to come! Every track is consistently excellent - there is nothing to let the album down. Each track has an appeal of it's own, and yet there is also a magical continuity about the album that lifts your mood with every successive track, giving you exactly what you want to hear each time. brThe first two tracks "I Love It When We Do" and "Love Won't Work (if we don't try)" are instantly infectious rockin' numbers, either of which could be a great single. With most of the album co-written by Gregg Alexander, who was also behind "Lovin' Each Day" and "Rollercoaster", the characteristic heavy guitar-based backing soon lifts your spirits and draws you into it's warm enveloping sound. Ronan's warm and distinctive voice has matured, and is shown off in all it's glory here. Strong and clear, soft and tender, he seems to have a wonderful gift for bestowing each note he sings with exactly the emotion and passion that brings the lyrics to life, and gives them meaning. He truly feels the emotions that he is singing about and puts his heart and soul into every song. brThe most surprising track for me is "You're Pickin' Me Up" - so fresh and catchy, you won't get it out of your head. Another stand-out track is "My One Thing That's Real", a beautiful song that sweeps you from quiet reflection to full-blown passion before you can draw breath. I must also mention The Long Goodbye, a beautiful, meaningful song that will touch many hearts. br"Destination" is a masterpiece that will bring Ronan the recognition and respect he has long deserved. Whether you liked his first album or not, or even if you didn't give it a chance, don't judge this one before you've heard it. Believe me, every negative pre-conception that anyone has ever formed about Ronan will be shattered if they hear this... Even the cynics will be "Blown Away" - and that happens to be the title of yet another amazing track....

5 out of 5 stars He's bold, he better and he's BACK!   May 27, 2002

After a noticeable long absense from the pop scene, Ronan Keating returns with Destination, a happy, summery album with sounds that won't stay out of your head and lyrics that make you smile! brWith tracks mainly writen by Gregg Alexander, this album proves that Ronan Keating is back and has certainly reached his destination, a good place to be! brThere are ballads of course, the now well known IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES may be a tear jerker but it certainly doesn't bring you down, nor does the beautiful LONG GOODBYE, penned by Ronan and Paul Brady. Not typical of the rest of the rest of the album, but these tracks compliment it perfectly.brThe album bursts into life with I LOVE IT WHEN WE DO and not only will you find it hard to keep still while listening to this track, you will also be very tempted to hum the chorus for several hours after listening. There are many catchy and contagious tracks like that on this album with clever tongue in cheek lyrics, but there is just the right touch of depth in the ballads and a few surprises as Ronan proves he has the vocal prowess to tackle a new dimension in his music. This is particularly obvious on tracks like MY ONE THING THAT'S REAL and TIME FOR LOVE. Both prove that Ronan is now miles away from the early Boyzone days of cheesy pop. The only track on the album that is reminiscent of those days, in my opinion, is AS MUCH AS I CAN GIVE YOU GIRL, but Ronan's voice has grown up. It has a new warmth and strength and is stretched to it's limits here.brIf you liked Brand New Radicals, you'll like this. If you're a sucker for a sloppy ballad or even something with a bit more depth, you'll find it all here! A clever combination of foot tappers and swayers, a must for the car. It will make that journey to work something to look forward to.brWell done Ronan, welcome back!

5 out of 5 stars The best album Ronan has done yet!!!   April 25, 2002

Destination is Ronan's best album to date. The first single to be taken from Destination is the moving ballad If Tomorrow Never Comes. If your looking for an album to suit your every moodDestination is the one. If your in a happy mood then the likes of Lovin' Each Day and Love The Way We Do. Come Be My Baby is the type of song you would roll down the window and have it blaring (a feel good summer tune.) My One Thing That's Real will totaly blow you away leaving you thinking That's not Ronan singing!?!?! If your in a lovey mood then The Long Goodbye and Time for Love will satisfy your needs. Your pickin' me up is a great pop tune which is about how messed up life is. All round I feel that anyone who buys this album are spending their money wisely!!!

5 out of 5 stars This album grows on you   June 7, 2002

When I first heard it I was cautiously pleased, but, as I have listened to it more, I have found that, as with some of Ronan's previous recording's, it grows on you - and stays. pApart from the obviously good 3rd track (If tomorrow never comes) track 13, (The Long Goodbye) which he wrote with Paul Brady is a much appreciated addition to the album - a very good song. pAs well as these, track 12 (We've got tonight), with Lulu, is oustanding, as is the previous track, 11, (Joy and pain).pThere are one or two other tracks where the lyrics made me cringe but... I find myself listening to it again and again so... 5 stars it gets.pI look forward to the next album and I hope to see him drawing from a wider variety of sources because, although most of the tracks on the album are written by Gregg Alexander, and the album has been advertised as such, the best tracks are not his compositions, which suggests that Ronan need not rely too heavily on him in the future.

5 out of 5 stars This is to be an up tempo abum.   April 25, 2002

Ronan's back with an all-new album! This album will contain the new single If Tomorrow Never Comes, but this slow hart touching track doesn't reflect on the rest of the album. A number of tracks are up tempo and written by Ronan and Greg Alexander who also wrote Life Is A Rollercoaster and Lovin' Each Day. Love won't work.. and some of the tracks on the album, are said to instantly stand out and you can relate them to the previous up-beat singles. The summer album to have!!!
