| Customer Reviews: An Ultimate Album July 11, 2002 Dave Jones 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What can i say? when i sit here making this review i simply sit with a very smug smile on my face, pleased with the results and knowing that Producer and head man of Murder Inc has finally found the right formula for what i would call an ultimate album. The fusion of different artists styles ranging from the angelic voice of Ashanti to the deep laid back rapping style of Ja Rule, however this album does a lot for the less commercialised artists at The Inc, i am very impressed with all other artists, and i was very pleased to see Charlie Baltimore comming back on the scene and signing for The Inc. i really enjoy the change in types of songs from the more heavy rap styled its Murda to the full female line up of the very chilled song no one does it better.i am now eagerly anticipating the release of Ja Rule's next album The Last Temptation, and also Vita's La Dolce Vita.
Dont think about it....... just buy! June 29, 2002 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the next installment from 'the inc' but alot of changes have taken place since irv gotti last presented the murders. Ashanti is the newest artist to be added to this cd and because of her amazing success will bump up the sales alot. Murder inc is a hip hop/rap label but have now toned down there act so it fits into a big market.'Down 4 u' is the first single of the albem which feature Ja rule, ashanti, vita and chuck baltimore... it is catchy and v good so will be a sure fire hit this summer. Dont expect this albem to be rn'b... its not, dont expect it to be hip hop....its not really and don't expect a complete rap albem cause its not. It is a mixture of all 3 and more. Vita shows her true talent and so does chuck! if your into this sort of music dont hesitate, just buy because the inc contains artists to watch out for in the future all role into to one and produced by the genius that is Irv Gotti!

Arguably the inc could be considered one of if not the hottest record label with an all-star roster. This album does try to convince people that they are,on down 4 u, the raw and ruff style of ja is complimeted by the mellow flow of charli, the gangsta chick vibes of vita and the ever so sweet vocals of ashanti responsible for singing the hooks on ja's always on time ,fat joes wats luv and her own single foolish. All of this is backed up by the supa hot producer irv gotti,,this is a definate buy for clubs, partys and your ride this summer,. A MUST BUY
Enjoyable, But Formulaic October 25, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Here we go again with "The world's most talented music label" (according to JA Rule at the start of Ashanti's Happy video anyway), it's another collaboration album from Murder Inc, after the mostly average "The Murderers".pThis time however, the Inc has grown to almost So Solid proportions, taking on a multitude of new rappers and producers, and this, is partially the problem. The original lineup of Irv Gotti, Ja Rule, Tah Murdah, Black Child, Vita, Ronnie Bumps, O-1, Chris Black and Dave Bing seemed fresh and actually promising, apart from Black Child anyway, but this time, there are just far too many of them. Of the new recruits, only Charli Baltimore, Chink Santana and the heavenly voiced Ashanti are worth listening to, leaving the rest of them to fight it out in anonymity.pAs with the previous Murder Inc album, the majority of the tracks focus around murder, drugs and sex, which quickly becomes repetitive, especially when the dubiously talented Black Child keeps blurting out "We the Murderers" at every inopportune moment. However, where this album shines is in the music production, as Irv Gotti, 7even and Chink Santana create some truly memorable beats.pThe standout tracks on the album are the smooth (but perhaps pointless) intro, Gangstafied, which features a cool laidback melody and some superb rapping from Tah Murdah, Down 4 U, with Ashantis beautiful vocals, Ride Wit Us, which has an impossibly funky bassline and Hold On, the albums best track by far and a really soulful, chilled track. The rest of the tracks rarely rise above average, covering the same cliche'd ground as before.pSo overall, this is a good album to listen to if you are driving or doing something else as well, as it does feature some class rapping from Tah Murdah, Ja Rule, Charli Baltimore and Chink Santana, but it also takes itself too seriously to be taken seriously and does sound very similar to the previous album and a lot of the production by Gotti is samey. Therefore if you like Ja Rule and liked the previous Murder Inc album, then it's worth a listen.
Disappointing July 23, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After hearing and very much enjoying Irv Gotti Presents The Murderers i was expecting another selection of gangsta cuts from producer Irv Gotti. When i heard this album i was very disappointed. The trend set by Ja Rule's Pain Is Love is continued here where Irv and Ja continue to sell out. The only 2 tracks really worth listening to on this album are O.G. which shows that Irv Gotti still has the talent to produce good quality tunes as well as the more gangsta side seen mostly on the previous outing from the Murderers which is represented on We Still Dont Give A F**k. Apart from those two tracks there are a few average songs and then the rest of the album is filled up with songs that will only appeal to Ashanti fans. Give this album a miss and go and buy Irv Gotti Presents The Murderers or Ja Rule's Rule 3:36. Lets hope that Irv Gotti stops producing all this bubblegum rap and he returns to his roots.
