RIMES ROCKS!! April 28, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Until I heard 'Life Goes On', I didn't really care too much for LeAnn Rimes. I loved the single, and decided on the off-chance to go with the album - and I wasn't disappointed, as it ranks up there with my favourites - and they're all r'n'b.br So, Twisted Angel marks LeAnn's transaction from the country side of things to a more pop/rock orientated genre of music, with a little r'n'b sprinkled in there. Opening track 'Life Goes On' is a feel-good tune, and this is quickly followed by 'Wound Up', one of the best songs on the album. The song is about a troubled songstress, much like 'Lucky' by Britney Spears. However, 'Wound Up' has a much darker feel to it, and the backing music is mean 'n' moody.br 'The Safest Place' is an all-and-out ballad, and I don't really care too much for it at all, but fans of the old LeAnn will probably adore it. 'Trouble With Goodbye' is pop tinged with r'n'b, where LeAnn is having a hard time saying goodbye to her love. The chorus (saying goodbye in different languages) isn't that inspired, but is quie catchy.br Fifth tune 'Damn' is quite mediocre. 'Suddenly', if released, would become a pop-rock anthem. It's got that kind of vibe to it, and sounds very Avril Lavigne-esque, but only a bit less rocky. 'Tic-Toc' is LeAnn's journey into raunchville, and it is absolutely amazing, a brilliant track. It's definitely the most r'n'b of anything on the album. 'Sign Of Life' is less up-tempo than most of the songs, but not a ballad. It's a slow-burner, and again on of the best on the album.br Track 9 (Review My Kisses), Track 11 (Love Is An Army), and Track 12 (You Made Me Find Myself) are all ballads again, and rather bland when compared with the up-tempo songs on the rest of the album. But if you're into ballads in a big way, you'll love these.br Then there is track 10(No Way Out) and the final track, 'Twisted Angel'. 'No Way Out' ranks among the best on the album, and here LeAnn is saying how she cannot escape and is being held back by something. It is the darkest track on the album. 'Twisted Angel' is a terrific song, and kind of feel-good whilst being fairly slow. LeAnn's voice is suited well to the long notes here.br Overall, 'Twisted Angel' is a perfect pop/rock album, ballads mixed with dark, moody songs and those dabbling in r'n'b. LeAnn shows why, at only nineteen, why she's stuck around for so long, and she'll be here for many more years to come. If she keeps making material like this.

This album definatly shows that LeAnn Rimes has grown up. I have been listening to her music since her first album Blue and each album has its merits. LeAnn is definatly amongst the best of young female pop acts(even though her roots are country) that actually have talent. LeAnn is Exectutive Producer on this outing and very much her own boss. The pictures on booklet are adventurous and without the naff-ness you get with Britney! On Twisted Angel are some rather different material and signs of experimenting. Ballards such as Damn and Review My Kisses are great for romantic nights in. Whilst Life Goes on and Twisted Angel, the title track offers good vibes and the voice does not let up. There are no Diane Warren tracks, but if you like meaningful and romantic ballads, this album is one for you. I can't stop listening to it!pMuch better than Britney, Christina and soon, better than Celine Dion.
Fantastic Album! January 10, 2003 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you loved her new single 'Life Goes On' or you were already a fan, you'll be pleased to know that the whole album is as strong as the first single from it. Catchy, well sung pop songs, I think you can say she's left country well behind her, it doesn't show through on this album as much as it did a little on her last album 'I Need You'. I think LeAnn has now finally found her sound as a pop singer with these hit songs! If you were a fan of LeAnn's first country albums you might be dissapointed, but if you like the new style pop LeAnn better, this is the album for you. Anyway, if your looking for a great CD to listen to, with a great mix of up-beat catchy songs and a couple of mid-tempo ballads, sang by such a powerful voice, this is it!
Another classic from Leann October 21, 2002 For all fans this is another classic album. brFor those new to country music this is an excellent starting point for you to appreciate 'new country'.brShe has not lost any of her skill in keeping you listening from the first track to the last, you will not be able to listen to this just once but will want to listen to it over and over again.brA must buy if you've got other albums, if not 'get some'.
LeAnn is an angel January 30, 2007 Jason Tsang (Kent, UK) Prior to this album, LeAnn Rimes had done an electic collection of country and country inspired rock/pop. A number of these songs were pretty good and as a teenager growing up, she did better than Britney Spears et al. Twisted Angel marked a new change in direction, LeAnn had grown up and new direction was sought. This album is electic, but it is brave in covering a number of styles and LeAnn trying new things. Not much is country and her attempts at RB isn't great, but her sultry ballads are both sexy and mature. "Damn" and "Review my kisses" are such songs and when I listened to them in my car, I can't help thinking that this is no longer the little 13 year old that sang "Blue" back in the early mid-nineties. I have all of her albums and this one seems the most complete to date.
