Amazon.co.uk Review
Said to have extended their recording contract, things look set to continue for Westlife despite the "kiss of pop death" that is the greatest-hits collection. IUnbreakable/I features the very best of their first three albums, their Top 10 hits and the lead single and title track, which was newly recorded for this album. It includes memorable covers, such as the Christmas single "I Have a Dream" by Abba, the duet of a Phil Collins song with Mariah Carey ("Against All Odds") and, like Boyzone before them who did "When the Going Gets Tough", the Comic Relief charity record "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel. It's quite impressive that half of the songs here have hit the top spot as an A-side, making it a far more appealing album than any of their others, as there simply isn't room for the customary fillers that litter such artists' albums. So with their past encapsulated on one disc, it's time to look to the future for Westlife, although with lessons learnt from Take That's IGreatest Hits/I, Boyzone's IBy Request/I, Steps' IGold/I and possibly the Backstreet Boys IGreatest Hits/I, no one should be holding their breath. --IGeorgina Collins/I

5 out of 5 stars They just get better and better!   November 12, 2002

When I told my mate who's also into Westlife that I was getting this CD, her reaction was, "Why do you need it when you've got all of their other ones?" Well, this album is a must for any serious Westlife fan, and also a must for any light westlife fans, for the simple reason that it gives you all their greatest hits (obviously) AND several great new songs. brSo if you liked Westlife's released songs but was a bit wary of getting an album, this is the answer. I have to say that apart from World of our own, which I've always hated, I love every single song on this album! The great thing about it is, you know what you're getting when you buy it, but there's also an additional six songs, including Unbreakable, which add that extra twist to what would otherwise be just an ordinary (if you can use that word about Westlife) greatest hits album!

5 out of 5 stars brilliant album!!!!!!!!   August 13, 2003

This is another westlife album that will touch your heart. Here you have all their number ones, which are 11, and 6 amazing new tracks. This 6 tracks really get to your deepest feelings, and the lads show again their great vocals in all the songs. They prove again that THEY CAN WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC in How does it feel?. If you are a westlife fan you shold go out and run to buy it! If you are not a westlife fan, this album will become you one.

All your favourite Westlife Hits in one place - what more could you ask for. Whether you are a fully commited Westlife fan, or you have just heard a few tracks, liked them but never got as far as buying an album - with this one, you really can't go wrong!brIt is a great mix of all their hits (many No 1s) from the ballads like 'Flying Without Wings' and the new 'Unbreakable' to the more upbeat tracks like 'Uptown Girl' and 'When You're Looking Like That'. There are also a few new tracks (future hits maybe??). brDefinately something for everyone!!

Unbreakable is a collection of Greatest Hits that are all hits! Who but WESTLIFE could have given us that? This collection demonstrates why WESTLIFE has risen to the top and stayed there for so long -- songs with strong, emotional lyric content; lush, romantic melodies; arrangements that conjure up the great romantic music of the past while remaining contemporary; and five young men who always seem to rise effortlessly to the level their music demands.pShane Filan, Mark Feehily, Bryan McFadden, Kian Egan, and Nicky Byrne, the boys of WESTLIFE, can actually sing. And how they sing! Whether they are wrapping luxurious harmonies around the power ballads like Unbreakable and Queen Of My Heart, or bouncing their voices off the recording studio walls in the up tempo numbers like World Of Our Own and Uptown Girl, or just relaxing and having fun with the mid-tempo songs like Fool Again and When You#8217;re Looking Like That, they prove over and over that they are no fluke. These five lads are superb musicians, and their voices are their instruments -- instruments utilized with enormous virtuosity.pIt seems to have become fashionable to claim that when your musical tastes #8220;mature#8221; you move on from ballads to RB, or Punk, or Grunge, or Heavy Metal, or whatever else peer pressure and the media are claiming as the musical form du jour. But, although constantly evolving and re-inventing itself, the ballad form goes back centuries, and will undoubtedly be with us when Punk and Grunge and Rap have settled into the dust-heap of history.pUnbreakable is an unabashedly emotional and romantic ballad. It surely deserves to be the greatest hit Westlife has had so far! Unbreakable is the first of six new songs recorded for this compilation, and each of these new songs are beautiful, superbly crafted, artistically executed gems. But, Unbreakable deserves special attention. Unbreakable has a hauntingly beautiful melody, complex harmonies, and a full-blown orchestral arrangement that soars into realms ethereal. pThe six new songs on this compilation are the perfect compliment to the 13 massive hits which are the definitive WESTLIFE, and which have deservedly lifted these five Irish lads to the heights of international super-stardom!pOh, yes! I love this album!
