a masterpiece that hasnt aged April 13, 2006 sean paul mccann (ireland) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
this album is over 20 years old and i first heard it about 15 years ago as a young pup and i loved it then and i love it now,it remains a true classic in glam rock, granted it has darker themes and content than girls, girls, girls but it is still very much balls to the wall rock and sleaze roll, songs like shout at the devil, looks that kill, bastard, helter skelter, which is a cover version of a beatles song which is done well for a change, ten seconds to love etc are all so vital and essential ,it is just sublime ,this album reminds me of when i was just a lad and finding out what i was all about and bands like skid row, guns n roses and motley crue are all icons to me,this is a landmark album,if you are starting out in metal then get this and work your way up to classic metallica etc like i did ,this is more than essential
Knock em Dead February 10, 2004 Son of 68 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This 2nd Crue album is probably as good as the first album but as it has been over produced (lots of devil/beast stuff - if you like that sort of thing)and even the cover is a bit offputting.pIt rocks with tracks like Shout at the Devil, Ten Seconds to Love, Too Young, Looks that Kill, Knock em Dead and Bastard - all are totally awesome.pIf you've got G n R "Appetite", Cinderella "Night Songs", Poison "Look what the cat", Stryper "To Hell", Skid Row "Slave to the Grind" etc then this will fit in nicely. If you haven't but want a great rock album then buy it.
The Devil went down to Motley! July 17, 2008 Shane Anthony William Wolfe (South East Kent, Great Britain) Mick Mars voicechanger kicks off the album, promising devilish Rock and Roll, and it doesnt disappoint! Shout At The Devil is a rousing, kick ass track that pounds away at your head till your singing along throwing sixes in the air! Looks That Kill follows in the non-stop bangin' and thrashin', the song about all your ex's that you ever had.

br /Bastard is a hate filled rant against an old and beaten adversary, Helter Skelter the Beatles tune made evil by an injection of pure Motley. Red Hot is just that, molten music poured into vinyl. Too Young To Fall In Love was a live favourite, catchy chorus and a cool video to promote it.

br /Knock 'Em Dead Kid is brilliant, a middle finger to all that try and put you down. 10 Seconds To Love is the sex track, all bluster and swagger, Danger finishes off the album, describing Motley's home town as it closes out.

br /All in all, possibly the Crue's finest moment in music.
This is a must have. April 8, 2009 Rasmus Skov Christensen (Denmark) This album is a very good album. I had to listen to it more than once, but when I had done that.... wow, "this is a good album."

Rock. And. Roll. From the start. Briliant. Absolutely brilliant.pOk, biased fanaticism aside, this album is genius. At first, i disliked the guitar tone, finding it muddy and unclean. But that is exactly what this album is about. That and fairground rides.pThe riffs are heavy enough to counter Neils slightly whiny voice in places which is most definitely an aquired taste. But the spandex wearing peroxide blonde sure does grow on you.pThe title track is deliciously heavy, "looks that kill" just as hard and cheesey (but hey, this is hair metal, so cheese me up), "Bastard" is the weakest link in the album and can easily be skipped. "God bless the children of the beast" is a tasteful instrumental with a not so tasteful title, then we come to "Helter Skelter". Ah, what a song. The Beatles supplied the bricks, and crue built a satanic palace out of em. With big pointy towers. A great song.p"Red Hot" is an act of blatant pretentiousness with a cool riff, "too young to fall in love" is a trend setting metal ballad, ah yes. "knock 'em dead". My personal favourite. Sixx's best song ever, in my opinion, following a brawl with the LAPD. Love it.p"ten seconds to love" is a Neil written sleazy gutter rock song. "danger" is a disappointing album finisher, but fits in with the albums genre and has some quality lyrical hooks. pWell, there you go, 5 stars definitely, go buy. Rock n roll!!!pRobbi Cornell
