5 out of 5 stars Opinions May Vary   September 19, 2003
Mr. T. L. Smith (London, UK)

From what I've seen of Fred Durst in interviews recently he strikes me as an intelligent man, and i'm sure, although he'd probably never admit it, he realises this album is the one that will decide the future of Limp Bizkit. Its no secret that Fred and his men have been a target of hatred recently and need to do something special to shake off the insults. Plus they have a new guitarist in the form of former Snot axeman Mike Smith who needs to prove himself worthy of following Wes Borland.pFor me, putting it simply, this album is the best they have ever done, and one of the best albums of the year, and Mike proves himself equal to, if not better than Wes.pWith Limp Bizkit's back catalogue, you have the raw hatred mixed with chilled emotion of '$3 Bill, Y'all', the radio friendly rap metal anthems of 'Significant Other' and the mix of heavy and slow of 'Chocolate Starfish...'. 'Results May Vary' sees them displaying a new found emotional maturity in their music (most likely related to Fred's relationship with Britney Spears and the unwarranted hatred from audiences and press alike), while still displaying the fun loving, tongue in cheek nature of their past (such as the lyric 'I'd love to sniff on them panties'). They do seem to be a happier band, however. If you listen to the first album it is mostly about hatred towards unfaithful, money chasing girls (see 'Stuck' as a good example), but this record seems more laid back and less angry in general.pMeatier songs like 'Head For The Barricade', 'Phenomenon' (which samples the LL Cool J classic of the same name) and the blistering opener 'Eat You Alive' will keep the casual listeners happy with the usual crunching riffs and angry lyrics ('...Barricade's' chorus and breakdown wouldn't be out of place on a Biohazard album). However, its the slower songs that are the most satisfying for me. 'Lonely World' and 'Build A Bridge' use a similar format to the excellent slow songs from 'Chocolate Starfish...' ('The One', 'Hold On' etc.) and give out a relaxed yet emotional sound, not dissimilar to Tool.pThey have also included one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in the form of 'Behind Blue Eyes', a cover of The Who's classic, its truly a song to take you to another place and hearing it live brought a tear to my eye. It is a fitting end to an excellent record, one that should keep die hard fans in love, but the vote is not in on whether casual fans will enjoy the lack of 'Rollin's and 'Break Stuff's. Hopefully they will embrace the maturity and intelligence of this excellent album.

Well, the title isn't Results May Vary for no reason. Like a prescription drug, the effects may be different for everyone who listens to this album. This is because it isn't typical limp bizkit with every other word as a swear word, and most songs being rap rock. Yes, the song has heavy tracks, but there is a much more mellow and mature song that the bizkit has brought out with this album, such as "Behind Blue Eyes" (cover of The Who classic), "Lonely World", and "Drown". All great tracks that will surprise the limpbizkit fan and hater alike. This album is well worth a purchase as it is pretty diverse, the instrumental value is brilliant, and Dursts lyrics have improved a lot since the last three albums.

5 out of 5 stars The Long Awaited Follow - Up   March 3, 2004

It's been nearly three years since Fred and company chanted Rollin' Rollin' on our stereos, and with a new guitarist to replace Wes Borland, the appropriatley titled Results May Vary is now available.pBefore the release of this album, i was in fear that Limp Bizkit were just going to die out due to Borland's departure, but even with Durst's ego problem, and new member Mike Smith not having the same calibre of Borland, its hard not to appreciate the effort being displayed here.pBoasting a more maturer noise, Results May Vary at 17 tracks shows something old and something new. Eat You Alive, Head For The Barricade and Phenomenon sounds like they could be taken out out of the Chocolate Starfish album, a more enjoyable intro to boot and some ballads are showcased like The Who's Behind Blue Eyes and Build A Bridge.pThis is highly recommended, although the album is rather long, it has a style that can be enjoyed, its just a shame that most people are going to discard it.

I think that this album is one of their best. This has a good mix of mellow and hard songs, much like significant other. When i heard their newest song, Eat you alive, i thought that this album would be the same as the last two, bit its actually quite different. I think that this can be liked by anyone, it has the mellow tunes, such as 'lonely world' and 'behind blue eyes', but it also has the hard rock songs sucH as 'Eat you alive' and 'head for the barricades'. Plus i would just like to say that i really like the song with Snoop Dogg which alot of people have complained about. I think that this song shows how big Limp Bizkit are, i mean, what other rock group can get a hip-hop artist onto one of their album tracks? Except for Aerosmith of cause. I just think that it shows how diverse and widely appreciated their music is.brAll in all a great album!

A lot of people will remember limp bizkit for their tracks such as my way and take a look around (MI2 theme) from their "Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured Water" LP. Many hardcore fans were disappointed at the results of that, as compared to their earlier stuff, it seemed very repetitive. How could anything compare with counterfeit, rearranged and nookie?pBut then they released Results My Vary. Wes Borland has left now and Mike Smith(EX Snot) has joined the team. The album begins with the customary introduction with music, which is not tedious at all, as it is so very different each time. It then goes into the brilliant heavy metal track, eat you alive.pOther tracks worthy of note are behind blue eyes, a melodic song and Almost Over. Howveer you will find taht all of the tracks are refreshingly different. What i oike about it is that there are very few 'rap' songs which the LB had been concentrating on a lot up until recently, and instead have gone back to rock roots. They seem to have noticed the success of staind, cold and puddle of mudd, all bands on Fred Durst's record label and there tracks are reflective of this.pPersonlly i think this album is on a par with significant other and I think that their music can only get better after hearing this taster of their new style. pDon't let thefact that Limp Bizkit took ages to produce this put you off, you WANT to hear the tracks on this album.
