TINA TURNER is deeply admired and truly appreciated in the Gulf region/ Arabia, too !! July 10, 2008 amazon reader 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
br /Living in Muscat/Oman, working in Abu Dhabi and Dubai/ U.A. Emirates, and travelling all over the Gulf region for business reasons I like to discuss with my Arabian friends and customers about music in both cultures, the Western (European and American) and the Oriental culture.
br /
br /We enjoy to listen to the traditional -classic and to the modern pop music . My friends in Arabia deeply admire and truly appreciate TINA TURNER`s music!
br /
br /
br /........Why Is TINA TURNER famous?
br /Known for her incredible on-stage performances and charisma, Tina and her music have spanned 3 decades, with Proud Mary, What's Love Got To Do With It, and I Don't Wanna Fight.
br /
br /TINA's SEXINESS:
br /With legs that can humble Cindy Crawford, of course Tina is still sexy. The lion mane on her head might be a bit overboard, but who are we to be picky?
br /
br /TINA's SUCCESS:
br /Tina can still sell out arenas, though she will never sell Shania Twain-like quantities of albums. It doesn't matter though, after all, how many singers can say they won the "Sonny Bono, I'm Back" award.

br /TINA's QUOTES:
br /"I will never give in to old age until I become old. And I'm not old yet!" -Tina Turner

br /Biography
br /ANNA MAE BULLOCK (Tina's real name) was born on November 26 1938, in Nutbush, Tennessee. She is the daughter of a sharecropper and soon became an international female rock star with her powerful voice, her unforgettable story, and let's not forget, her remarkable trademark legs.
br /
br /Everything started when she attended a St-Louis high school when Tina met Ike Turner, a well-established RB bandleader (Turner's Kings of Rhythm). She started to sing with the band and soon got involved with the saxophone player and had her first son, Raymond. She quickly moved into Ike's house, began a serious a relationship, and eventually gave birth to her second baby. Tina and Ike later married in a quick Tijuana ceremony. This alliance turned out to be illegal because Ike never bothered to divorce his first wife.
br /
br /Their marriage marked the beginning of a long, cruel journey for the talented singer. Tina's life was completely controlled by Ike who forced her to work a grueling tour schedule and beat her if she disobeyed his orders. Tina' s energy, dynamism and grueling voice got her on top of the pop-rock act with hits such as River Deep Mountain and Proud Mary.
br /
br /She acquired her quest for worldwide fame when she opened for the Rolling Stones in 1969. She made such a good impression that Mick Jagger still uses some of her on-stage moves in his current acts. Tina soon had enough of Ike's possessive behavior, and after a failed suicide attempt, walked out on him with thirty-six cents and a gas station credit card. It didn't look like a promising career move for Tina; many believed she would disappear from the music scene without Ike's musical weight supporting her.
br /
br /She didn't fight for any financial compensation and decided to live in total freedom. Tina slowly climbed her way back into the music scene by working small time nightclub gigs six days a week. Joining strength with Australian manager Roger Davies, Tina released the multi-platinum Grammy-winning album Private Dancer in 1984, with hit singles like What's Love Got To Do With It? and Better Be Good to Me.
br /
br /Tina also hit the big screen playing a role in The Who's Tommy. She also hit it big alongside Mel Gibson in Mad Max: Beyond The Thunder Dome, both with her acting role and her hit theme song. Next, she embarked on a twenty-five-country Break Every Rule tour in 1987, and dominated with very high ticket sales around the world. Tina dominated the music scene not only with her singing talent, but by being the "Comeback Queen" with tremendous on-stage presence as she bopped around with her micro-mini skirt, high heels, and leonine mane. She also came out with an autobiography, I Tina, which led to the hit film What's Love Got To Do With It.
br /
br /With fans such as David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, and Mark Knopfler, she has become one of the most accomplished performers of her time. And believe it or not, after more than thirty years of career, she still goes on stage reaching millions of fans with her singing and heartfelt dancing. If we can come away with one lesson from this star's life, it's that no matter how much adversity one goes through - their Wildest Dreams can indeed come true!
Tina as entertaining, dynamic and captivating as ever! November 1, 2004 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
Hard to sum up a long and successful career in just 33 tracks, including 3 brand new tracks. But this album goes a long way to doing so. I love it! There is something for everyone on this double album. Everybody loves at least one Tina Turner song, it's a fact. The new single, Open Arms, is here, as well as the *fingers crossed* hopefully-to-be second single, the burst of energy that is Complicated Disaster. From rock, pop, ballads and everything inbetween, you will without a doubt, find something to keep you entertained on this double album greatest hits.pDo not hesitate, buy this now - it's your duty to music!
Not Really What I Had in Mind January 3, 2005 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have been a Tina fan for many years, and when I heard news of this album I was pleased. The album has a good selection of songs, more than simply the best did (though this was a good album). The choice of songs could have been a little different though, as I feel some were left of that were essential, and others on the album that simply should not have been.pOne of her biggest hits from my early teens was 'Whatever You Want', I remember this as it had a huge impact at the time. Also from the wildest dreams album were 'Something Beautiful Reamains' and 'In Your Wildest Dreams', although good tracks, they just did not in my opinion reach the same status.pFrom the 'Foreign Affair' album the tile track for me stood out also and deserved a place on this album (also from this album I will never understand why 'Ask Me How I Feel' was never a single)pI was pleased to see tracks from the 'Break Every Rule' album, though again no title track.pAnother song which I thought realy should have been on the album was 'One of the Living'.pAnyway to get to the point, I would have liked a few additions, though the album is good listening, it has the rock ballards, the love songs, the catchy pop songs and three new tracks which are Tina down to the T. We all know Tina Turner and what to expect, if you are a fan this will be one of your fav albums, if not it is probably the best compilation if you fancy buing an album.pThe booklet is not very impressive, no lyrics, no facts, no biography or discography, no mention to the fans, just those who worked on her albums...oh and an exhaustive note on copyright issues!pHard to give five stars but what the hell, it is a good buy, and more to the point it is Tina :)
Half a century of pop music February 24, 2005 Peter Durward Harris (Leicester England) 25 out of 40 found this review helpful
Tina began her career as a professional singer in the fifties when, as Annie Mae Bullock, she was discovered by Ike Turner. Beginning as a background singer in his group, she quickly became the lead singer. They married in 1958 and had their first major pop hit, not in their American homeland, but in Britain where River deep mountain high (produced by Phil Spector) became a top three hit in 1963. It was only a minor hit in America but Proud Mary (a cover of the Creedence Clearwater Revival classic) provided Ike and Tina with a major American hit. Nutbush city limits became a major hit on both sides of the Atlantic.pTina split with Ike, both professionally and musically, in 1976 but it was not until 1983 that her solo career took off. During the eighties, Tina had more success than ever before, scoring a British top ten hit in 1983 with Let's stay together (a cover of an Al Green song). Next came What's love got to do with it, a top three UK hit that made number one in America. We don't need another hero (from Mad Max beyond the thunderdome) was a huge international hit in 1985.pTina may be most remembered for The best (generally known as Simply the best), which provided her with a huge international hit in 1989. Bonnie Tyler, a British singer whose voice has some similarities with Tina's, recorded the song a year earlier but her version completely missed the charts. Tina's cover version isn't any better than Bonnie's but she got the airplay and the success that followed.pTina's success continued into the nineties and the new millennium, especially via her great duet with Bryan Adams (It's only love). Other notable tracks on this compilation include I don't wanna fight (written by Lulu), Tonight (a duet with David Bowie) and Goldeneye (a James Bond theme) but there is plenty of other great music here. You won't find a better Tina Turner compilation than this.

A "Must Have" collection of Hits from one of Rock's Biggest Icons! All the hits are here and 2 new Tracks! Fans of Tina should check out the new release by Pop/Rock Recording Artist AMBER (www.Amber-MCC.com). Although not as well known as Tina, Amber has scored 10 Top Ten Hits on the Billboard Charts! As a Songwriter, Amber (Marie Claire Cremers), has written top Hits for CHER and Bette Midler. Her latest Single "You Move Me" currently rules the XM Radio Chart at #1! Although not a Hits Collection like Tina's release, "My Kind of World" contains so many Single Worthy Tracks that it may as well be. Fan Favorite "Sacrificial Lamb" could easily have been recorded by Tina! It is the Ultimate Declaration of Independence song in the spirit of Whitney's "It's Not Right But It's OK", CHER's "Strong Enough" and Donna Summer's "Enough is Enough". The Pat Benatar-esque "Just Like That" is yet another track that would have suited Tina just fine as would have the Alt Rock tinged Lead Single "You Move Me". Don't tell CHER fans, though. Many have suggested on her Fan Forum that "You Move Me" would have been perfect for her! Billboard Magazine says "Amber deserves a spot in the Mainstream". Right beside Tina Turner! My advice? Get BOTH! Tina - All the Best! and Amber - My Kind of World.
