It's about more than music. November 29, 2004 34 out of 41 found this review helpful
It's simple.brIf you like the new version, buy this.brIf you prefer the original, buy this. It has the original on.brIf you want to hear the Live Aid version, buy this AND buy the Live Aid DVD.brIf you don't like the song at all, buy it anyway or go to the websitebrand cut out the middle man.pIt's time to make poverty history. This is a small step in that direction.
Dont diss it, it has the old version too! December 16, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I think that the new version of the song isn't too bad but definately not a good as the first. Luckily, the single also has the old version on it and a live version I beleive. It goes to charity aswell so why not buy it as a present for someone... I know I will!
Charity for a new generation November 16, 2004 Mr. E. Hanby (York, England) 17 out of 31 found this review helpful
The UK's most famous single gets it's 21st Century revamp. A slightly more soulful version with the current crop of stars. Bono kept his original line ("tonight thanks God it's them....") but then it's not about the music but the reason for this song's existance is charity and helping others. Buy it even if you don't like it!
Lovely remake for a great cause November 26, 2004 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I love it. From Chris Martin's intro to Joss Stone's adlibs. Robbie Williams, Will Young/Jamelia, Fran Healy, Justin Hawkins, Tom Chaplin and Thom Yorke all do a fabulous job, as do Ms Dynamite/Beverley Knight - that's why I love it, so much loveliness in one song. Will be buying it the day it's come out. Well done all of them!
ok so you don't like it December 11, 2004 Mrs M Harding (Dover, UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
It seem to me that many people who have done reviews on this do not like the cd.brWell I say that christmas is a time for giving to other people who are unimaginably worse off than us - we're all worrying whether aunty joan will like out gold plated toothpick and if we should buy value or finest crackers whilst people in africa would love just the money we spend on our christmas dinner which would last them much longer!!!brBuy the cd (for yourself and for others)and play it as many times as you can where other people will hear it to hopefully convice them they need to buy it. All money is going to the Live Aid charity - let's put this cd in people's stockings.brMy heat was moved by the film that goes with this and my prayer is that other people will be touched by this too.
