Amazon.co.uk Review For a man who gets his biggest kicks surfing the waves and strumming his guitar on a lonely beach in native Hawaii, singer-songwriter Jack Johnson has carved out quite a remarkable career on the mainland. His 2003 album, IOn and On/I, went platinum on the back of hit single "The Horizon Has Been Defeated." The follow-up, meanwhile, seems destined to shine even brighter. The drifting chords and soft voice are still in place, only now Johnson's instinct for melody has sharpened alongside his ability to self-edit. These small concessions make third album, IIn Between Dreams/I, his most conspicuous, particularly on tracks like the three-minute relationship drama, "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing," and "Breakdown," a song he originally recorded for Handsome Boy Modeling School's IWhite People/I album remade here to reveal its full stripped-down loveliness. Imagine all the coconuts it will buy. I--Aidin Vaziri/I

Understated album. June 14, 2005 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
Imagine waking up after the night before and your head feels like someone with a sledgehammer was smacking it around your head.... This album is the aspirin to get rid of it! My girlfriend got me into this after a heavy night out and i woke up like a bear with a sore head. She put it on and i just drifted along with it Perfect for playing on a sunday morning or in the car on a sunny day, one of those albums you just cant help but like..
He just can't make a mistake March 14, 2005 Mr. J. L. Townend (UK) 25 out of 29 found this review helpful
In my opinion every Jack Johnson album has been pretty samey, but everytime its perfect. pThis is a perfect CD to forget that you live in overcast Britain to. A combination of melodies perfect for knodding your head to and a voice that every acoustic artist should wish for before they go to bed.pThis is an amazing cd, with the exception of Belle, which could have been forgotten. It's hard to pick out better tracks, because as with the other two albums every song has the potential to be a hit. pAdvice.....Just buy it, its £9, and its beautiful, plus im yet to meet someone who has heard jack and isn't a fan. Its music for everyone. Its hard to trust the word of a complete stranger, but if you buy it and you dont like it, listen to it again, you'll realise the brilliance of it.
Very cool and very chilled. February 28, 2005 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
This album, well what can you say? classic Jack as cool, and mellow as he (and no one else it seems) can go but at the same time tracks suchas "Good People" and "Staple it Together" are funkier and really make you dance. Again just like what jack Johnson has a knack to do with previous songs like Flake and Bubble Toes.pAll together this is a Great album, a must for any one in to chilled, summer feeling music (i was listening to this album as it snowed and it made me feel like the sun was shining.) Compared to his other albums i would put it on a par with "On and On" with "Brushfire Fairytales" bein my favourite (but just by a short way!) If you enjoy music that makes you feel that everything is right with the world then this is it. Excellent!!!
Sumptuous July 10, 2006 charlieblimey (Leeds, UK) 19 out of 23 found this review helpful
One of the best Cds I've heard for a long time. It might not suit everyone, it depends what you're looking for. To me the lyrics, gentle voice and beautiful music all add up to a sumptuous listening experience, you could say that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Jack Johnson is a lyrical musical genius with a voice to match. If anyone says they don't care for the music then they may not have really listened properly to what is a beautifully crafted piece of work....such a pity. I'm so happy to have discovered such a talent who questions the purpose of life. Long may Jack Johnson continue to make music like this.
One of The Best Albums I Have Heard April 16, 2006 OSH (Liverpool, England) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Jack Johnson is, without doubt, one of the greatest acoustic artists there has been. Each and every song is written thoughtfully by him, and then complimented with a relaxing guitar and chilled out voice. Johnson simply creates the most mellow mood with the best songs you will ever hear. True to life songs about love, life and relationships; anyone can relate to these chilled out tunes. he is finally getting the deserved recognition, and he was voted best USA newcomer at the BRIT's. Johnson has reched number 1 with this excellent album, and after hearing his first single 'Good People', I did'nt hesitate to buy it! I am not disappointed, and will be listening to it for a while yet! Excellent
