| Customer Reviews: Groundbreaking July 5, 2005 Mr. R. D. Shepherd (Manchester, UK) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I know this tunes' well established on the continent, but from a UK perspective, this is truly groundbreaking stuff. Oozing originality, and creativity, this hip-hop, reggae-tinged, rap, gets you right where it hurts. Sung in his native language as well, this adds a much need element of diversity to the ever decreasing variety of English chart music. Since Alizee disapeared after success with with French-sung "Moi-lolita", we've yet to hear a single word muttered in any other language. The video is brilliant, and currently riding extremely high in the music TV charts accross all channels. I thoroughly look forward to hearing "Barrio fino" the debut album.
So what if its not sung in English!!! March 31, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I only heard this song once before trawling through Amazon and download sites to find it. It's really catchy, so either you'll love it straight away or it will irritate the hell out of you. It's lively and upbeat and it instantly cheers me up when I hear. Its not really a hip-hop track, to me it sounds more like World Music, has a sort of African/Cuban feel. I can't believe the reviewer thinking the fact it was not in English, meant it ws no good. Some of the best hip-hip is not in English ie Daara J, Orishas, Solaar MC etc. In fact, sometimes I wish I didn't understand what a lot of rappers were saying - not particularly being into sexism, homophobia and violence.
I'm ashamed August 13, 2005 0 out of 8 found this review helpful
I cant believe the music fans and audiences nowadays have allowed this "daddy yankee" or whatever to even consider making this awful track. He's obviously a completely untalented guy who grabbed his nearest friend (who decided he would produce this track after downloading some poor software and finding a flippin' record deal from god knows where)...What is happening...Plus what is he saying? How can you particularly like the song if you dont know what he is saying? I mean most of the audiences that this weak joint is played to every day are english speaking, yet it becomes a "hit" in the "charts" and programmes like MTV, Hits, Tmf etc...Confuses me. Just proves what music in general is coming to if we allow tracks like this to continuosuly be made ... I'm out (0 stars, not even 1 because its not even a song...just a chanting fool!) Support Underground HIPHOP and the real genres! Peace
