Great Life October 17, 2005 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
What a great and surprising album. Ricky Martin said he travelled the world to find new sounds for his latest album "Life" and it shows, such a diverse and exciting mix of eclectic sounds, cultures and pure danceable tunes. If you're a fan of Ricky's you'll have this in your collection already, if you're not, give it a listen, you'll be pleasantly surprised. The collaborations and productions are awesome. Ricky's finest English album so far.
His best album to date! Keep great albums like this coming! October 29, 2005 Saleem A. Malik (Huntingdon, United Kingdom) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a very strong album from ricky martin, with such an excellent range of diversity. He went to India to record "I won#x27;t desert you" and it is such a fantastic fusion of so many influences. The collaborations are also brilliant, with Amerie, fat joe, daddy yankee, voltio and others. brEach song is distinct, catchy and full of different sounds. It#x27;s going to take me a long time to get tired of this album, the lyrics are fresh and meaningful; I can#x27;t wait to see all the videos for these songs. brA must have for Ricky fans, you won#x27;t be dissapointed, and if you are not a fan already, you will be.
#x27;Life#x27; is a Gift - Enjoy it November 27, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Life by Ricky Martin is wonderfully composed. I have to say that even though #x27;I dont Care#x27; features Fat Joe and Amerie (who are great) Ricky stands out on his own. His vocals are very different in this song and suited him so well. My Favourite tracks are #x27;Till I get to you#x27; for its universality, #x27;I won#x27;t Desert you#x27; for its fusion of different music, #x27;I dont care#x27; for featuring new Ricky, #x27;I Am#x27; for its subject matter (lol), #x27;It#x27;s Alright#x27; for its dancing beats, #x27;Drop it on me#x27; for its free overpowering style and #x27;This is Good#x27; for just being good :) brSo yeah I would definitely recommend this CD, even if you are not a fan, buy this for its originality or buy it to support the good cause Ricky is fighting for :) God bless him
Then God created "Life"! February 15, 2006 Mr. Ian Donnan (England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Well following the outstanding Almas Del Silencio Ricky had to pull something wonderful out of the hat, especially after the wait. Without knowing it, and after listening to this album I now realise that this is the album that Ricky just HAD to make. A Latino-fest just wouldn#x27;t have done and I admire Ricky#x27;s musical growth and the spot-on instinct he has shown in creating this great album. The fusion of cultures is exquisite; above all Ricky has certainly managed to hit the nail on the head in combining Eastern styles into his own Latin style without losing either. A really great album...Welcome back Ricky
New music - new sound October 9, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have this on pre-order but have been lucky enough to preview all tracks from this album ahead of it arriving.pIt's a pity Ricky Martin's been categorized by the few singles he's best known for in the UK when his music - both English Spanish - is much more diverse. This first English album in five years (he released a Spanish CD a couple of years ago) is a mix of traditional and ethnically influenced ballads - and upbeat tracks very much of the moment rather than the Latin pop everyone associates with this artist.pIf you like ballads you'll enjoy 'Stop Time Tonight' my favourite, even though I'm more a lover of danceable tracks which are well catered for too. 'This is Good' 'It's Alright' and 'Drop it on me' (Reggaeton influence) alone make this album worth having. The Latin flavour is there but not the Latin pop of yesteryear. The first single 'I Don't Care', which you may have already heard, is another great danceable track. p'LIFE' has Ricky's handprint on it for sure but this is a more mature album complete with sensitive lyrics and wide range of musical influence than we've heard before. If you knew him from his heyday you'll be surprised by this venture into a new style; and new fans will be introduced to someone who still - after 20 years - has more still to come.
