The Best of the woman who played God November 15, 2005 Amanda Richards (ECD, Guyana) 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
Finally, Alanis Morissette#8217;s best songs are available all together in one convenient place. This heavenly collection from the woman who played God in the movie #8220;Dogma#8221; covers the period 1995 to 2005, with nineteen of her #8220;impossible to sing along to#8221; songs that we#8217;ve come to love.pFrom the incredible album #8220;Jagged Little Pill#8221; (1995):pHead Over Feet; You Learn; You Oughta Know; Hand in My Pocket; IronicpFrom #8220;Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie#8221; (1998):pThank You; That I Would Be GoodpFrom #8220;Under Rug Swept#8221; and #8220;Feast On Scraps#8221; (both 2002):pHands Clean; So Unsexy; Simple Together; Sister BlisterpFrom #8220;So Called Chaos#8221; (2004):pEight Easy Steps; EverythingpAnd those are not all #8211; you also get #8220;Princes Familiar#8221; from her #8220;MTV Unplugged#8221; album; a cover of the Seal song #8220;Crazy#8221;; #8220;Mercy#8221; from #8220;Prayer Circle#8221;; #8220;Still#8221; from #8220;Dogma; the haunting #8220;Uninvited#8221; from #8220;City of Angels#8221;, and #8220;Let#8217;s Do It#8221; from #8220;De-Lovely#8221;.pA must-have album for any fan of the often controversial, extremely talented, and sometimes foul-mouthed Canadian-American singer/songwriter/actress.pAmanda Richards
Isn#x27;t it Ironic? A good Greatest Hits Album... November 10, 2005 Mr. T. Speller (London, Uk) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
To say Alanis Morrissette has had a #8220;successful#8221; career would be a major understatement- numerous awards won, 45 million albums sold, Jagged Little Pill regularly cited as one of the greatest albums of all time.pThe Collection, handpicked by Morrissette herself, was intended by her to #8220;reflect with objectivity her own evolution as a writer and singer#8221;, to be a catalogue that would stand the test of time. And certainly, this does not disappoint, with a good melange of hits and new songs.pThe hits show why Morrissette is such a good singer-songwriter. Her songs have often been tense, angry, confrontational streams-of-consciousness, with often direct, frank, dark lyrics. For example, #8220;You Oughta Know#8221; with its tale of betrayal and its references to oral sex, the admission of weakness of #8220;Thank U#8221;, and the world-weary #8220;Ironic#8221;. And yet they have become, for the most part, AOR staples: one only needs to listen to the mosh-friendly backdrop of #8220;Ironic#8221; to realise why it became such a big hit.pYet the new additions are good too, with #8220;Let#8217;s Do It#8221; being a #8220;de-lovely#8221; version of the Cole Porter chestnut, and Seal#8217;s #8220;Crazy#8221; covered to perfection, breathing new life into a classic.pIn all, this is a Greatest Hits collection that is, ironically, worth buying.

My first Alanis Morrisssette CD. Haven't stopped playing it yet and would definately recommend to others as a first cd. It isn't IRONIC though!!!
the mistress of rock/pop October 11, 2007 Bj Lucas (England) Alanis Morrisette delivers a great 'Greatest hits' compilation here. Lyrically, Alanis is the mistress songs like 'you outta know' 'Ironic' 'that I would be good' are all proof of this. Musically she is most definitely a genius, her cover of 'Crazy' is wonderful.
