Amazon.co.uk Review
The Verve fought their way to the top of the Britpop pile with a series of triumphant, world-beating anthems, but since their dissolution, frontman Richard Ashcroft's muse has led him further into introspective, acoustic territory. Quite heartening, then, that his third album kicks off with a mighty burst of brass, an ecstatic Motown rhythm and in "Why Not Nothing?", one of his most bullish, headstrong lyrics in recent memory. p Ashcroft's new emphasis on classic-tinged soulfulness--a nice change from his occasional, unfortunate tendency towards lumpen Britpop blokeiness--permeates IKeys To The World/I, a factor that sets it on a par with the likes of Weller's 2000 album IHeliocentric/I in the return-to-form stakes. There are two real highlights though: the swooning "Words Just Get In The Way" should see some manly tears shed, an older, wiser uncle of Coldplay's "Fix You" that offers a shoulder to cry on over a noble flourish of violins, while "World Keeps Turning" ends the album on a proud note, Ashcroft declaring "Everythin' right in my life again" as the album gallops to a close.--ILouis Pattison/I

Having followed Richard Ashcroft since the beginning of his solo career, which now spans 3 albums, i was always expecting something alittle different from what else is on offer in todays music industry.brrefreshing is a good superlative for this album. a good old typical singer/song writer record that doesnt feel quite as heavy as his other two offerings. a good mix of energetic, soulful, contemplating tunes. broverall its an album of progression, you get the feeling there is alot more to be offered from this rare breed of artist. as for this version with bonus DVD, that in itself is maybe for the #x27;fan#x27; mostly. the gem being an interview with richard where he discusses the topics of each song, its always interesting hearing the artists take on songs to discover their true meanings. the live performances are top notch and the first single#x27;s video is just a nice addition. brStand out tracks would be #x27;Music is Power#x27;, #x27;Break the Night with Colour#x27;, #x27;Keys to the World#x27; and maybe my favourite... #x27;Why Do Lovers?#x27; as richard says in his interview its a great song to stick on at 2am in the morning!br9/10, go on treat yourself!

i have spent my entire adult life as a musician and a psychotherapist. i have had some success in both areas. i use the music to help me as a psychotherapist and my education on the nature of man to inform my lyrics. when i run low on inspiration i turn to my teachers. dylan, springsteen, bono, cohen, waits, mccartney, john martyn and the beautiful soul of richard ashcroft. these artists are not nostalgia buffs. they will continue to embrace the present with intelligence, compassion, melody and rhythm. i make compilation c.d.'s of their music to give to my depressed clients to inspire hope, forgiveness and gratitude. i have never reviewed a record but i listened to richard ashcroft all day yesterday as i drove my car in the sunshine. i am grateful for richard ashcroft and i will continue to support his musical journey. bless your heart richard

Apart from the title track, which is quite good in a very typical Verve way, this is one of the most turgid, dull albums I've heard in a long time. I forced myself to listen to it on a plane journey, then left it on and had the best night's sleep I've ever had on a plane. By the way, I like Verve stuff.
