shayne ward debut album November 17, 2006 molly (uk) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
i am delighted to say that, unlike other albums, there is not one track that i dislike on this debut album.
br /each song has clear emotions, beautifully produced and great to sing along to.
br /you can hear every word, which in today's pop culture is a refreshing change. a must for everyones collection, BUY IT NOW!!
br /i simply can't wait to purchase album number 2. nice one shayne!!
Great Debut Album! May 29, 2006 Melissa Cook (Scotland) 14 out of 19 found this review helpful
Personally I think that this album is great. However it will only appeal to people who really like ballads, so if you don't like ballads. Don't buy it. Every song is generally of the same "formula" - verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-key change-chorus (repeated until the end) which can get boring after a while.

br /Thats my Goal
br /
br /Shayne's debut single. Loved it, however it is one of those "multi use" songs that anyone can sing. I felt it quite similar to Michelle McManus's debut single. My only criticism is the use of the word "foolish" when it should be "foolishly". Such a grammtical error does make me wince, but I've grown used to it. Overall, an excellent song. 9/10

br /No Promises
br /
br /Personally, I felt that this song was better that "Thats my Goal", but i feel the music video does it great favours. When I got the album, i didnt enjoy this song as much as I did on TV. Now I just imagine the video in my head and I find that that sorts that out. Shame this song didnt get to NO.1 as i feel it was better than the debut single. Pretty much the perfect ballad. 10/10

br /Stand by Me
br /
br /I must admit that when this song started I thought it was "Unchained Melody". I was quite pleased to find out it wasn't, as much as I love Unchained Melody. The only fault with this song is that it is quite hard to sing along with as I keep forgetting when the notes change in the chorus. Apart from that, an amazing ballad. 10/10

br /All my Life
br /
br /A more upbeat song, which is a rare occurence in this album. Simply a great song. 9/10
br /
br /You're not Alone
br /
br /Starts off well, however in the first verse I felt the words were slightly naff. Great key change, and a great chorus to sing along to. 8/10
br /
br /I Cry
br /
br /Thought I'd heard this song before, and I had- Westlife. Anyway, it's a great song with a great bridge and key change. 9/10
br /
br /What About Me
br /
br /Reminded me of David Sneddon's debut single, but thankfully the lyrics are not as rubbish and totally stupid. On the whole, a very good song, with a great key change. 7/10
br /
br /Back At One
br /
br /Overall, a good song, with a good key change, but a disappointing ending. 7/10
br /
br /Someone to Love
br /
br /Another Westlife sounding song, but it is very good. Follows the formula exactly, which is great. A great song, that you can't tire of listening to.
br /
br /Something Worth Living For
br /
br /Not a song that particuarly stands out, but its okay to listen to, there's nothing to dislike about it. 7/10
br /
br /A Better Man
br /
br /The songs towards the end of the album, get less and less distinctive. Again there's nothing to dislike, but does get boring aver time. 6/10
br /
br /Next To Me
br /
br /An upbeat song, only the second one in existence in this album. Sounds out of place in an album full of ballads. However it is a very good song. 8/10
br /
br /Over The Rainbow
br /
br /Always good to have a few live tracks at the end of album, so that we can find out if the artist can actually sing. As the whole of The X Factor was live we know this already, so really it is just a track to enjoy. Only fault is the ending, when I thought my glass was going to shatter. 9/10

In this world of crude music - Finally a future legend June 21, 2006 spanish (Spain) 13 out of 18 found this review helpful
It is such a pleasure to sit back and listen to the glorious voice which flows out of this young man. He has such spirit and a pure strong voice. All of the tracks are equally beautiful. Every day I change my favourite. It is not often that one can listen to an album non stop without moving it over to a more fancied one. Shayne is truly a future legend. We have finally found this generation's Johnny Mathis.

br /Stand By Me is a beautiful song and has been recorded with a wonderful gospel choir backing. It brings tears to ones eyes, it is so inspiring.
Shayne's not a one-hit wonder! May 2, 2006 P. Young (London United Kingdom) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I played this album for the first time on Saturday, the second and third time on Saturday and the fourth and fifth time on Sunday - in short, it's a great album and I am not tired of it yet even after that many plays in such a short space of time (as is usual) - it also went straight on my i-pod! I enjoyed Shayne's performances on the TV show and thought he'd do well and this album just proves what a star he is. His live rendition of 'Over the Rainbow' is great - how he hits that last note is absolutely amazing!
br /
br /Shayne has been compared to Justin Timberlake but, personally, I think he's much better.
br /
br /I can't wait for his next album which, hopefully, will showcase some original material and show us that he's not a one-hit wonder!
Shane Ward First Albulm June 1, 2006 Mrs. W. C. Tunnard (UK) 10 out of 16 found this review helpful
This albulm has to be everything I expected from Shayne and more.
br /So many beautiful love songs and the grand finale, his version of Over the Rainbow taken directly from the recording on the X Factor.
br /
br /Stand by Me has to be my favourite track as is track number 9 and 6...however I am quickly becoming hooked on all the tracks, and play them in the car and on my pc whenever I have the chance. As a 50 year old, and just knowing from the onset that Shayne would win the X factor, (I also guessed the winners of the other year's X factor from the onset too) I am exceedingly happy with Shayne's first albulm and it is my intention to continually support his music so long as he continues the way that he has begun.
br /Truly, he is a brilliant artist and a gifted young man, and his mother must be so proud ~ she certainly raised a wonderful son!
