5 out of 5 stars Surprising Paris!!   August 15, 2006

My word I never thought I'd say it but i loved this album!! fair enough Paris does not own the same vocal abilities as Christina Aguilera but the album is actually really good. The reason I feel that it has been recieving so many bad reviews is because people like to prejudge the heiress and so do not give the music a fair chance. It's not the most outstanding collection of music that I've ever heard however the album contains many tracks that are perfect just to listen to and nod your head while singing along with the catchy tunes and honestly it put a smile on my face especially that catchy catchy track "Screwed". Also to me I can see a similarity in Paris' song "Heartbeat" to the Gwen Steffani track "Cool". br / br /If you like Hillary Duff and Lindsay Lohan this is the one for you!! but please if you are not a great fan of Paris give the music a try because you'll probably find you actually quite like it

5 out of 5 stars Amazing debut   August 17, 2006

All the speculation about Paris Hilton going down in flames when she launches her singing career, to me, has been proven as a total misconception. br / br /'Paris' has fulfilled my high expectations and then some. Paris really has a talent, and this record shows it. br / br /'Nothing in this World' is my personal favorite: its very catchy, and the tune is funky. br / br /Closely followed by 'Screwed', which has been available on the internet since 2004 in the form of an 'Alex G Remix' but the album version of Screwed is very different and alot more edgy - which I think suits the lyrics better. br / br /'I Want You' (which features a snippet from Grease by Frankie Valli) fits the pop genre perfectly, and as Paris said - her album features a genre for everyone. br / br /'Heartbeat' is a love song, but it has a good tempo to it - its not slow and morbid. br / br /'Jealousy', rumored to be about the feud with Nicole has one of the most catchy hooks ive heard on a song in a while, I think it's fair that Paris has her say... Even if it is in the form of a song. The name says it all! br / br /'Turn It Up' is the first track and it brings you right into the upbeat, happy feel to this record. It's a sexy song, with a sort of perverse quality to it, but this adds makes it all the more fun. Turn It Up has a very soothing tune to it, its not loud and abrupt, just sensual and pleasing to the ear while being upbeat at the same time. br / br /'Fightin' Over Me' is more of a rap song and although rap isnt usually my sort of thing, this song isnt overpowering. It has a good mix of Fat Joe and Jadakiss' rapping, and Paris' singing. br / br /'Stars Are Blind' is the reggae side of the album, very good song as proven by the billboards. br / br /'Not Leaving Without You' has a sort of disco/pop feel to it, and it will leaving you humming all day. With lyrics like 'Don't ask me for my number, coz my number's undercover' - you wont forget it in a hurry. br / br /'Turn You On' - the title is spot on, it is another sexy song like its predecessor 'Turn It Up' although it is a good song... there are better songs on the album. br / br /and finally - 'Do Ya Think I'm Sexy' which is obviously a cover of the Rod Stewart classic is surprisingly good. It's a hard song and she does it well. Not a bad word to say. br / br /So conclusively, 'Paris' is a very good listen, and beats down the paparazzi's degrading publicity with a huge stick! I think that this is one of the best albums of the year and I cant stop listening.

5 out of 5 stars Rooting for the underdog!   August 19, 2006

Befor you read this: my appoligies for the spelling. English isn't my first language, and i'm writing this without a dictionary. br / br /I bought the CD without listening to it. I'll explain why later in this review, but first i'll tell you about the CD! br / br /I was willing to give the girl a fair change, and....I rather liked it. It has a good beat and i rather liked the sensuality of her voice. It's unfair of people to say that she can't sing. Although her voice probably has it's limitations, she was verry smart to chose songs that go with it. The cd is very good for a debut album, with great songs that really set a sensual atmosphere. OK, she doesn't YET have the originality of Madonna, but the girl is only new in the music scene...her music needs to grow and i'm confident that it will...Paris always is original: You find one other person who has created sutch a celebrity for just being herself, no-one does it like Paris the heiress. br / br / Now to explain why i bought the CD without even listening to it: I just wanted to give Paris my support! I hate the fact that people HATE her and everything that she does, without even giving her/her stuff a fair chance. It has become sutch a cliché to look down on/"hate" Paris. AND WHY??? Because she's a beautifull, wealthy girl that people find fascinating? Because they can't stand the fact that one person appears to have it all when they themselfs don't? Isn't there enough hating (the ugliest emotion in the world) going on? Seriously...TOLERANCE PEOPLE! If she's not your kind of person, and you aren't willing to give her a fair shot...then don't listend/watch/read her stuff. I believe all that hating makes Paris the UNDERDOG of this story, Everybody wants her to fail, but I for one hope she proves them all wrong! YOU GO GIRL br / br /WITH LOVE, br /x

5 out of 5 stars funny how people can give an album one star before its even released!   August 20, 2006

Its so typical of people to do exactly what Paris Hilton herself said in an interiew they would do, trash her album just because SHE made it! Its nothing to do with the music its the fact people dislike her or things that she has done that they are rubbishing what is clearly a very good pop album ( read the attitude review people you couldnt be ANY clearer on on what this album is!) basically its fun...Stars are blind, i wnat you, jealousy are great pop, heartbeat a great 80's style ballad, and turn it up, turn you on and screwed great dance/pop/hip hop, who really even cares how much they have manipulated the sound for her voice...the songs are great using great producers and stars are blind and screwed sound excellent in clubs i found the other night!!!! People really need to get over the fact that A hieress managed to find her own fame and her own money even after a few ahem...incidents. This is good enough to spend less than 10 pounds on so do it!!!
