Amazon.co.uk Review With two solid albums already under his belt - iTime To Grow/i and iDedicated/i - as well as two Brits, two Mobos and over 1.5 million album sales, UK vocalist Lemar has already earned his place as one of the UK's most adroit soul singers. Yet iThe Truth About Love/i, Lemar's third album, is even more of an accomplished work than its predecessors. Taking an old-school production approach - one producer (Brian Rawling), one band, one orchestra, one horn section and one mix engineer (Manny "Kanye West, Alicia Keys" Marroquin) - Lemar has recreated his classic soul sound more poignantly than ever, as evidenced by the infectious lead single "It's Not That Easy". Elsewhere he offers Sam Cooke style doo-wop ("Tick Tock"), heartfelt balladry ("Can't Live Without Each Others Love"), contemporary r b ("Can't You See" feat. Styles P and Mica Paris), and a light-as-a-bubble, Motown style duet with Joss Stone, titled "Anniversary". Unlike The Lighthouse Family, Simon Webbe and others of that ilk, Lemar doesn't compromise his sound to the point of sterility. With its nostalgic songwriting, high caliber of musicianship, and Lemar's infectiously smooth, yet mature sounding voice, iThe Truth About Love/i is quite the modern classic.--iDanny McKenna/i

This album is excellent, after 2 albums with only a few stand out tracks, this album is full of them, Lemar as finally achieved is full potential, with songs for the broken hearted, songs for people in love, sells should go through the roof around valentines day! If you were thinkin about buyin it, i strongly urge you 2 do so!

I have owned this album for a while and it only recently came to my attention of how brilliant it is. Lacking in the more upbeat songs but heavy on the love ballads. Although love ballads are sometimes poor every single song on the album hits a note if you have ever felt for anyone. A must buy!!!! Smooth Silky Vintage Soul

mate, quality album September 13, 2006 Joseph A. Travis-dean (Winchester, UK) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
in this album Lemar truly established himself as soul. In Dedicated and Time To Grow, there were some very mainstream sounding song. Don't get me wrong, i do love them aswell. However, this album goes into depths we havhn't seen lemar go into, and you can really see his influences shining through. This album if f*****g brilliant for anyone who likes lemar, or just rn b or is even a fan of the old classic soul singers like marvin gay and ray charles. With a voice like this he could be making any genre of music sound like gold.
br /This was the singer that got me into soul and rn b, and doesn't dissapoint in The Truth About Love. Quality mate, quality

Lemar's Third Album, and his best. has alot of tracks worthy of being singles, if you like 'its not that easy' its pretty much an essential album. Its Good To Have a talented artist representing the Uk When the Americans dominate the genre.
