Maria Lawson should have stayed much longer on the X-Factor, but maybe being voted off when she was turned out to be a blessing in disguise as she's been able to put together a fabulous album. It deserves a lot more airplay than it seems to be getting so far. Sleepwalking, The Poet and Naked with you really stand out for me though every track is good, and Maria's version of You're Beautiful is much better than James Blunt!

Maria Lawson is back but with her first album which I have gave a listen to it and its very simular to "Beverley Knight" type of songs. Its a great album and they are a few Tracks what have been Pre-Recorded such as "My Poet originally recorded by Liberty X" and also "Your Beautiful originally recorded by James Blunt" but these are great Recordings. Above all I have really enjoyed listening to this album and you should really buy this cd and listen to her, her voice so much better than X Factor.

br /1 - Sleepwalking - A nice slow RB beat and great vocals, I love the Corus.

br /2 - Black Mona Lisa - A nice Acoustic type of song with a RB beat, great vocals.

br /3 - Give All You Got - Another nice Acoustic type with RB beat.

br /4 - My Poet - "Originall sang by Liberty X" great re-recorded and a nice beat.

br /5 - Old School Lovin - A great RB song and I love the Corus on this song, infact this is one of my favourites on the CD.

br /6 - Your Life - Great RB song another favourite

br /7 - Let It Break - A great Beat to this song and I love the Corus

br /8 - His World - This song has a RB beat but a old style sort of Melody.

br /9 - Overrated - This song reminds me of Stacie Orrico's new song a great style like that song. Love it and lovely corus and beat.

br /10 - Naked With You - Slow type of Acoustic song but nice tune

br /11 - Pretty Face - A nice Piano melody with a nice Drum sound.

br /12 - Womans Intuition - Nice song with a Guitar sounding and RB Beat, gr8 vocals again.

br /13 - Its Love - A slow Acoustic type of song with great Vocals Lyrics.

br /14 - Your Beautiful - "Originally sang by James Blunt" but this verison of Maria's is a great recording to with like Gospel back singers towards the middle of the song. Great song.

br /This album is what I expected, a great cd to listen to anywhere.

If I am honest I have grown tired of the predictable output from X-Factor contestants. Safe production and lots of uninspired cover versions. However, Maria Lawson has truly broken the mould with this her debut cd. Thirteen original songs by a number of top notch producers and writers including Andrew Frampton and Steve Kipner.

br /Maria has a strong, commercial voice that lends itself perfectly to the range of material on offer. Think Gabrielle and you will get the idea. Stand out tracks include the poppy 'Pretty Face' and 'Overrated'; the Motown inspired 'Old School Lovin' and 'His World' which samples the Gladys Knight classic 'Midnight Train To Georgia'.

br /I took a gamble purchasing this cd fearing the X-Factor syndrome but was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended.

br /I hope this album gives Maria the recognition and success she justly deserves and that there will be more to follow.

maria was voted off the x factor by louis walsh in the early stages when he choose a group of irish girls who were not that good!!! a huge forore then occurred and the rest is history!!!

br /it was probably the bes tthing that could have happended as marias voice and the album is as far away as can be from what you expect from a star of x factor - not a cover in sight!!!!

br /the album is well written, well produced and well sung! maria sould a bit corinne bailey rae on some tracks.

br /as well as the first single sleepwalking other standout tracks are black mona lisa, the poet, let it break and pretty face...and of course her cover of james bunts youre beautiful is included as a bonus track....if you havent heard it you should!!!!!

br /the only reason i think this album will flop is she is not kinown as maria lawson she is known as maria from the x factor sa lot of people will not release who the album is by...i knew nothing about it till it was mentioned on an x factor special. the record company need to get her name out there!!!!

So long as you take each track on it's on merits and don't think X Factor, you'll love it.

br /Some excellent original tracks and some great covers. There is no song that I can't listen to on this album. However, I find myself looking for "Pretty Face", "Overrated", "Let it break" "Sleepwalking"
