Amazon.co.uk Review It's tempting to read these songs--many about hope in the face of potential heartbreak--as an adjunct to Keith Urban's own tabloid-fodder life, which lately reads "ex-junkie country star marries Nicole Kidman, enters rehab." But his three previous albums have similar dark undertones. That would also be an underestimation of Urban's creative powers, which are broad enough to balance assembly-line Nashville pop with emotionally fine-tuned artistry. Breezy rockers like "Faster Car," sweet hooky ballads like "Shine," and readymade big-chorus hits like "Once in a Lifetime" rub elbows with more complex numbers like "I Can't Stop Loving You"--an essay about sad courage that starts with an acoustic guitar and adds instrumental textures as it unfolds--and "Stupid Boy," a tale of loss and self-discovery. It's no coincidence that both those songs climax with Urban's own crying guitar solos. As a player, his bold, midrange-heavy tone complements his most nuanced vocal performances. Another highlight is "Raise the Barn," which Urban co-wrote and sings with Ronnie Dunn. The cheerful tune, inspired by the survivors of Hurricane Katrina, is a tribute to the durability of the human spirit--a subject Urban seems to know more than a little about. i--Ted Drozdowski/i

Another Fine Effort November 26, 2006 Graham Mckee 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Why Keith Urban hasn't cracked the Uk market I will never know. He is clearly the most talented music artist around at the moment. Maybe it is lack of marketing or promotion or the fact that most people will dismiss him as just another country artist without actually listening to his records.
br /
br /This is a poor assumption to make as Keith Urban writes terrific commercial songs with killer hooks and amazing guitar riffs. He also plays countless other instruments on his records ro prove how talented he is.
br /
br /The album starts off with a bang with Once in a Lifetime a really good uplifting song which was his first single release from the new album.
br /
br /Other highlights include Used to the Pain, Faster Car, Wont Let you Down and Shine. My favourite track by a mile is I Told You so. It is a belter of a track and is as good as any Urban classic from previous albums.
br /
br /This album probably won't give Urban the recognistion he deserves in Britain but it will further cement him as a superstar in the USA. Those of us who do appreciate Keith Urban will love this album. It is another fine effort and a great addition to the already impressive Keith Urban catalogue.

Love, Pain The Whole Crazy Thing - Top Album August 10, 2007 Tiny Suz (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a must for anyone who appreciates great musical talent, Keith Urban has secured massive hits in the US with I Told You So, Stupid Boy and no doubt with the soon to be released "spine tingling" track Everybody. Don't just take my word though, go and buy this album, you're in for a real treat.
Great crossover album July 6, 2007 Redrum (Ohio USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Take the best studio musicians and song writers Nashville has to offer, add a lot of Keith Urban, mix it up with some fine recording, and smart song choices. There you go. One fine album. Yet, still in the back of your mind you know he'll play it even better in concert.

br /He's got that Shania Twain, Garth Brooks crossover pop/country/rock thing happening here. Very well done. Good cruisin' music.
Country or rock......who cares!? August 10, 2007 Mrs. Sally A. Adams (The Oxfordshire Countryside!) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Keith Urban is, in my opinion, one of the most under-rated musical talents I've had the joy of listening to. This album is up there with all the others, though he will have to go some to beat Golden Road. Such a shame the UK leg of the world tour has been postponed, live on stage he's even better! It doesn't matter if you don't like country music, he's a rocker AND an extremely gifted musician, no doubt about it. He's endured life's lows and enjoyed it's highs, and this is all reflected in his music. Buy this album, you won't be disappointed.
