Amazon.co.uk Review If your previous album was a slow-burning success story, it can be hard to be expected to hit the ground running on the follow-up. Fortunately, the Kaiser Chiefs have done just that on the fantastically-titled iYours Truly, Angry Mob/i. Like iEmployment/i, their debut and this album's predecessor, iYours Truly.../i is full of radio-friendly, hook-ridden tunes that mask cunningly subversive lyrics. The Kaiser Chiefs are very much a Britpop band, which is probably why "Highroyds" opening couplet--"I remember nights out when we were young/ They weren't very good they were rubbish"--sounds like something Jarvis Cocker would sing, while being backed by the boys from Blur. And it's this lyrical sentiment that's carried throughout the album, much of which is satire wrapped up in potential singles. Best of all, and a perfect example of this, is "The Angry Mob", sure to be shouted along to by exactly the people it's targeting. It's the rare band that can mock and judge its audience and still be loved by them, but that's exactly what the Kaiser Chiefs have done on iYours Truly, Angry Mob/i. i--Ted Kord/i

Second outing for the Kaiser Chiefs September 28, 2007 Bj Lucas (England) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I'm surprised to read the negative reviews here, Unimaginative, and uninspiring are just some of the terms I've read that have surprised me. 'Rock' never used to be my thing, the kaiser chiefs among some others have changed my mind on that. This is a brilliant second album. Of note of course is the brilliant 'Ruby'. 'Everything is average nowadays?' not with this album my dears.
A Blur-ry Follow Up February 25, 2007 Elastico Fantastico (Hawaii) 11 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have recently heard the Kaiser's new album on nme.com and it is a good follow up to their debut smash.
br / It is a grungy, paranoid, rebellious look on the rubbishness of modern life and culture. They have a talent for speaking exactly what's on the british peoples mind in a dark, dirty poetic nature.
br / You can really hear their influences in this one, especcially blur and the Smiths.
br / It is funny and fresh and they have become much tighter and more polish and new look, i think, will be well recieved. Highlights are Ruby, The Angry Mob, Highroyds, Learnt My Lesson Well and Everything Is Average Nowadays (and the funny Boxing Champ).
Sticky, Hooky and Buy It. February 27, 2007 AlanMusicMan (Salisbury UK) 15 out of 20 found this review helpful
The Kaiser's second offering shows us a classic pop band at the peak of their form. That won't much please those who liked the rougher edge of some of the tracks on "Employment" - but for those who like polished pop in the classic style, then this one is for you.
br /
br /There's only a couple of tracks on this album that would not make a creditable single - the whole thing is VERY radio friendly, and there's nothing wrong with that. None of the songs outstay their welcome - they have that knack of brevity that I for one admire greatly in the best of modern music - no self-indulgent 15 minute rock operas here.
br /
br /The sticky tunes on this are "Ruby" - surely destined to become a classic pop/rock hit of the 2000s, "Everything is Average Nowadays", "Heat Dies Down", "I Can Do Without You" - and these can all, easily, be big hit singles. The slightly less sticky, but still very hooky "Angry Mob", "Love's Not a Competition.." and "Highroyds" also have that potential.
br /
br /The production is superb throughout, with the lyrics coming through clearly - and good lyrics some of them are - and most tracks have a very deep layered texture with little touches of arrangement or instrumentation yielding something extra each time you hear them.
br /
br /The Kaisers - on this album at least - frequently remind me of Squeeze when they were at the top of their game - they have that upbeatness in their playing and sound. They sound happy - they're having a great time.
br /
br /If you liked the singles from "Employment" then buy this album, you'll like it.

Back with a Bang February 26, 2007 Garry S. Smith (UK) 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
They were never going to top I Predict a Riot...but they've had a damned good try !
br /The entertaining lyrics are back, the catchy hooks.. another "something for everyone" album. Destined for No1 in Album chart 4th march !
br /
br /We are the Angry Mob, we read the papers every day, we like who we like, we hate who we hate , but we're also easily swayed
br /
br /The first 4 tracks are undoubtedly The Kaisers at their best ; anthem songs Ruby Heat Dies Down coupled with upbeat and amusing Angry Mob Highroyds
br /Track 5 is an unexpected, but quality, accoustic number.
br /6,7 8 are middling album tracks; good, but not gonna be singles.
br /Everything is average... yep, except a Kaisers album.
br /
br /Hey, what rhymes with Retire .. oh yes, Tumble Dryer !!! Quality
br /
br /Kaiser fans will love it already have it snapped up. Those not sure about the Kaisers should take the plunge buy it.. you'll all be singing along soon enough. UK Chart domination beckons..
OMG stop complaining!!! July 19, 2007 Matthew A. Slonskyj (Barlborough) 11 out of 16 found this review helpful
why is it that for everybodies second albums nowadays everybody criticizes them. I really don't see what the problem is, this is a great amlbum but follows the formula set for bands that have amazing debut albums. It happened with The Killers and Sams Town, it happened with Arctic Monkeys and Favourite Worst Nightmare and now its happening with Yours Truly, Angry Mob.
br /All three of the albums ive mentioned had a tough job by having to follow each amazing debut album (Hot Fuss, Whatever People Say I Am Thats What Im Not and Employment)and although the albums aren't as instantly listenable as the debut albums, they grow on you over time till you find yourself listening to the new album more. It happened with Sams Town, it happened with Favourite Worst Nightmare and i guarantee it will happen with Yours Truly, Angry Mob. So i implore you don't get caught up in the mob which hates second albums, buy this album and let it shine and show its true colors!!!
