Amazon.co.uk Review In the most dignified way possible, "Dignity"--the title track to this fizz-bomb of a dance-pop disc--sends a disgusted eye-roll and a flagrant puh-ilease/i to underwear-eschewing celebutantes everywhere: "You'd show up to the opening of an envelope," sings Duff, who hangs onto her signature sweetness despite having entered full-on diss mode. "It's not news when you've got a new bag/It's not news when you're looking your best/Come on, give it a rest." Well said. And sung. Not that calling out the phony and the full of it is what Duff, or iDignity/i, is all about. Mostly, the disc is a beat-studded chronicling of an incredibly healthy 19-year-old psyche: On "Happy," she's happy despite an ex's attempts to make her miserable; on "With Love"--maybe her catchiest, most grown-up song to date--she's willing to accept rejection as long as kindness plays a role in its delivery. Musically, with the help of groove-conscious producers like Tim Bob and Will.i.am, Duff edges ever closer to adult sensibilities; her goofball iLizzie McGuire/i days seem far behind. It's an evolution anybody could have seen coming, actually. Has there ever been a starlet with her head on straighter? I--Tammy La Gorce/I

Sings with style, class and . . .'Dignity' March 25, 2007 Evin (Ireland) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Hilary returns with her 4th studio album with a vengance.Throwing away her teen pop rock image,Duff swaps the guitars for synth club rock and it works. On hearing the album for the 1st time it was hard to sinle out one paticular song. . . this being a good thing.
br /
br /The album opener,'Stranger' has a rock feel to it and has some arabic sample playing throughout. From here the album descends into more dark club tunes.'Dignity' has a thumping chours, with lyrics that will stay with you, although its strange why this wasnt her first single as its the best song on the album.'With Love',the albums 1st UK single is more dance with a hint of hip-hop,defintley a step forward in her career. The next song,Danger' is futuristic sounding yet gives a throw back to 70's disco - defintley one of my favourites. Track 5,'Gypsy Woman',which is co written by the Duff sisters,is dark rock which again is club filled, features amazing vocals from Duff in the chourus, excellent track.'Never Stop' is a very upeat, fast paced synthizezd pop song - not as strong as the others,as it feels like one long chours but possibilty of growing on you. With a title of 'No Work,All Play',I though track 7 was going to be a dance floor-filler,but is actually a slow paced song - think Natasha Bedingfield but darker. 'Between You And Me' continues the positive feel of the previous 2 tracks but has something more special - a constant grower, this track is a gem.Track 9 'Dreamer' samples a tunes everyone will recognise. The lyrics are honsetly weak but the overall song is good, just not as strong as the others. After 4 good but happy songs,Duff goes even darker than before with a song ironicly titled 'Happy'.This is a song that will get u excited from the opening and the chours is great. The more you listen to this, the more you will enjoy it.It gets better as it goes on.'Burned' is the albums only ballad like song and it isnt even slow-just slighlty slow paced but with hip-hop beats and dark lyrics,'Burned is another good song.
br /Track 12 'Outside Of You' is the only rock like song but still fits in on the album a great faced pace chours makes the song an enjoyable one.The only really weak track is 'I Wish',just nothing realy special here. . . could be a favourite for some people, just not me as i prefer more of the dancey tracks which is why I was happy with the album closer,'Play With Fire'.This was the 1st singles in the states and is a more mature song for a Duff, very dancey with a thumping beat and a loud guitar-synth filled chours.
br /
br /Overall 'Dignity' is a triumph and is Duffs best album by far.Its obvious that shes not holding on to the teen princess title and maturing more which will win her more fans. The album has no real weak tracks, just ones which arent as strong-but these are still great.Pick up this album, you wont regret your choice'.

Dignity Is An Ace CD! January 31, 2007 Dave (UK) 11 out of 20 found this review helpful
"Hilary has co-written all the songs on "Dignity", teaming up with Grammy-Award winning Kara Dioguardi ( Gwen Stefani, Pussy Cat Dolls, Kelly Clarkson), as well as top producer / songwriters like Fredwrecke (Snoop Dog, Eminem, Fergi) Will.I.Am, Rhett Lawrence, Chico Bennett Richard Vission (Madonna, Usher, Killers), Tim Bob (Nas, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez) and Vada Nobles (Rhianna). The single 'With Love' is out March 19, the album 'Dignity' is out April 2nd, both on EMI Angel."

br /Never mind all that - here are some knee-jerk reactions that will probably come back to haunt us in a few weeks.
br /
br /» 'With You'
br /The best song of her career, pissed away by having been on an advert for her 'scent'. Sounds like producers from the good bits of Norway, rather than the bad bits of LA, were involved. Less time spent making smells and more time spent on making records like this might not be a bad idea.
br /
br /» 'Play With Fire'
br /It's not going to change the world. We know this because it has been knocking around for a few months and if any world-changing was going to occur it would have happened by now. However, it was surprisingly good then and it is surprisingly good now.
br /
br /» 'Stranger'
br /It has a rock and roll guitar on it. Something to do with that bad man from Good Charlotte no doubt.
br /
br /» 'Danger'
br /Title rhymes with the last one, sounds very expensive and 'cool' but is let down with a chorus that is a quite 'flabby'.
br /
br /» 'Burn'
br /A bit of a ballad. It's no 'My Heart Will Go On' but it will do.
br /
br /If you liked Hilary Duff before, you will like the new stuff a lot more!
br /
br /Well done everyone involved.

Hilary's back April 29, 2007 M. G. Hatfield (North Wales UK) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This CD is some different from Hilary not so much pop more real singing I am a Pop fan like most people but I also like Hilary so this CD appeals to me so it all depends on your views Pop or Hilary if you like both then you should give this CD a go but if you want both you maybe should give it a miss but it will be a gap in your Hilary collection.
br /
br /I think it is a great album but would like to see more Pop next time but I think as Hilary grows up her music will follow but I think her music has gotten a few steps ahead.
