5 out of 5 stars A stunning solo album from the ex-sugababe   July 3, 2007

I'll be honest, im not one for anything mainstream, but after listening to this album nearly 20 times over, its hard to put down. Mutya Buena has an absolutely iron grip on her voice and her vocal talent shines on her more than anything else that she did with the sugababes. br / br /Musically, this album is somewhat a compilation of genre's. You have a bit of soul, a bit of dance, a bit of rnb, and a bit of pop, but thats exactly what keeps this album sounding fresh every single time you return to it.Tracks like "Strung Out" or "Wonderful" have a smooth ballad feel to them, where as tracks such as "Song 4 Mutya" or "Suffer For Love" have a jumpy, energetic feel. The melodies and styles on this album work together as one. br / br /The best track on this album is by far, "Paperbag" and i think its a shame because it doesnt seem like it will be released as a single. br / br /"I dont know how it can fit br /Coz its all we were br /Its all we ever had br /(memories) Sitting on a shelf in a paperbag" br / br /Lyrically, the album is very diverse. Dont be fooled by her strong image, there are some very touching, sentimental lyrics in this album, about breakups, lack of love, her personal failures, death's of friends. but at the same time, positive, uplifting lyrics about determination and a strong will to get through difficult times. br / br /Finally, the driving force of this album is Mutya's beautiful voice. It quivers like a child, it soars powerfully, and is firm when it wants to be. Buy this album to experience one of the most powerful vocalists of today.

well mutya left the girls..was is friendly or not! will we ever know! but she doesnt say anything in the "thank yous" br / br /so to the album...after a bit of a bad start with "just a little bit" not a bad song but miss beverley knight has done this before! and the current huge hit "real girl" which samples lenny kravitz..(ok but not the best) you are plunged into the amazing "song 4 mutya" which is already on the airwaves and will no doubt see mutya hitting no one! its great...no brill! has a bit of a "human league" thing going on! not a bad thing!a definate "girls aloud" vibe! and they would kill for it! br / br /"breakdown motel" plods along nicely in a way..."its not easy" is amazing! another sure no.1! like an amazing gabrielle sound! "suffer for love" sounds like the sugababes and thats not a bad thing! "suffer for love" is good but a hundred others have done the same sound! "not your baby" is another sugababes sounding track meets girls aloud..full of attitude..brilliant!"wonderful" slows it down and is good but not outstanding! br / br /"b-boy" is touted as a single and it has the backing of "be my baby" from dirty dancing...take that away and im not sure..will be a hit but is it on its own merits! br / br /"this is not real love" the duet with george michael is a lovely song and big up to mutya cos not everyone gets to duet with mr michael! however comes across as a bit false cos we know mr micheal isnt after the ladies! br / br /"my song" rounds the album of in a simple way..lovely! br / br /you wont be disappointed if you love the babes as it could be a group album....some absolute killer tracks on here! so mutya may have the last laugh! and on this outing shes done good...very very good!
