As a keen listener of Myleene's platinum selling debut classical album, I was keen to listen to 'Myleene's Music for Romance' and I was not dissapointed. I am not an avid listener of classical music but I thorougly enjoyed the album. br / br /Recommended to all even if classical music isn't your forte.

In its first week of release Myleene's first solo album "Moving On" peaked at #2 in the Classical charts, behind Hayley Westenra. By mid-December 2003, the album had been certified Gold and has since gone Double Platinum. Moving On was also nominated as Peoples' Album Of The Year in the Classical BRIT Awards. br / br /In response to the first "review" (if you can call it that) i would like to take the oppertunity to correct him/her. br / br /Klass began to learn the piano and violin from the age of four. (Hardly 5 minutes of classical training now is it). br / br /She then took Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams in violin, piano and voice whilst still at school. She received an A grade in A-level music, and became a Norfolk County scholar. br / br /Toccata and Fugue was the first ever classical piece to appear on British music television channel The Box performed by Myleene. br / br /She brought Classical Music to a new generation of people. br / br /However the preview track for her new album "Myleene's Music for Romance" has left me slightly disappointed. It is not as refreshing as the sound of Moving On, however i know she will not disappoint with this new album. br / br /Give it a chance. If it is anything like Moving On then she has made a great career choice and i hope she does well. br / br /*i recommend "Moving On" highly. br / br / br /

2 out of 5 stars Pretty cheap marketing ploy   October 23, 2007

OK. Let's suppose you like Myleene Klass. Great, you'll probably think - a whole 2 CDs of music performed by Myleene. Wrong! There are only two tracks on which she performs. The love theme from Cinema Paradiso that opens the first CD, and the Satie that opens the second CD. Yes, she is a competent pianist. No, she does not demonstrate real flair on those two recordings. br / br /The rest of the CDs are generally fairly indifferent recordings of popular classical pieces that appear to have been chosen for one of two reasons: either to promote another of EMI's "name" artists or to get some use out of a fairly moribund recording with one or two exceptions - the Prévin conducted tracks for example. br / br /There's nothing bad about "name" artists as another reviewer seems to feel. Pavarotti was a name artist. Jessye Norman is a name artist. Vladimir Ashkenazy is a name artist. They're all stratospherically talented. The problem comes when image is regarded as trumping substance, and that is so here. br / br /If you really feel intimidated by classical music, then maybe this is a starting point to get a feel for what you might like. But if you take it further, this album will always sound like a disappointment. However, if you really use it for romance, then maybe you won't really be listening. br / br /And, if you really want to hear a young and ultra-talented pianist (also an EMI artist), take a look at Simon Trpceski's Piano Works. The name may not trip so easily off the tongue, but the notes trip off the keyboard all right. br / br /Better still, get down to your local library, and take a look at the Penguin or Gramophone guides to classical music. If you want to appreciate music rather than just listen to it, don't assume there's an easy way to learn - there isn't.
