5 out of 5 stars An amazingly honest album...   March 18, 2007

I saw Kate a few weeks back and like the other reviewer, have been on her Myspace page daily ever since. I've even been listening to snippets of the album on US iTunes where the the album is already available. br / br /Suffice to say, I haven't heard a combination of voice, song and production like this in a very long time. Singer songwriters often rely on the voice as their main tool, but often the song, or melodies get left behind. In Kate's case, both parts carry equal strength and power. br / br /Kate writes classic songs that could have been written anytime over the past 30 years. They're all timeless, and all have strong hooks and heartfelt lyrics. br / br /Kate will be a big star...please tell your friends about this today!

5 out of 5 stars Captivating performance   September 18, 2007

Having not heard of Kate previously, I saw her live last night supporting the truely excellent Richard Hawley. She performed an acoustic sole set, just her and her guitar, and filled the stage with her lovely voice and playing. br / br /I was not alone in being completely captivated by her performance, and at the end of her set I went out into the lobby to buy her "Tim's House" CD. The bonus was meeting Kate and getting it signed as well. br / br /The first play immediatley brought back memories of the live set, most of which was covered during the performance. The songs are very strong and memorable. On the CD Kate is accompanied to good effect, but the intensity and clarity of her live set (three rows in front of me) will be hard to beat.

5 out of 5 stars ** WARNING ** - This album is addictive!!!   September 19, 2007

Quite simply, since buying this CD, I have played it continually (well almost!). The combination of Kate's voice with the gentle finger-picking of the acoustic guitar produces a very enjoyable and addictive sound. br / br /My favourite tracks are: br /Betty - which I could just put on repeat (it is that good!!), br /Tonight - ditto br /Goldfish br /Your Song br / br /Okay, music is a personal choice. So, if you only like power chords and Heavy Metal, this `might' not be for you. If your taste in music is at all eclectic, maybe you should have a listen to this. I play this music when I am trying to chill out, and it gets played along side Kings of Convenience (brilliant), Andy Knox (on www.myspace.com/andyknoxofficial), Damien Rice, Stina Nordenstam (what do mean, you have never heard of her?), Suzanne Vega and Bjork (at a push). br / br /Summary - I Love it. If you are into melodic female vocalists and excellent acoustic Guitar accompaniment - You might just love it too!! br /

5 out of 5 stars A star in the making   March 12, 2007

OK guys, I have to admit that I haven't in fact HEARD Kate's new album yet. (After all, it hasn't actually been released...) But I already know most of the songs backwards. And anyone who has followed Kate's progress on Myspace, or has seen her perform live, knows that it's only a matter of time before she takes off into the stratosphere. This is a seriously talented person with a voice like melted butter, the pen of a thinker, and a natural feel for melody and structure. So how can she also be such a nice person? I really don't know - bewildering, isn't it. Do youself a favour and buy this album. br / br /Sunset Johnson br /www.sunsetjohnson.com
