Rock On July 28, 2007 Mr. Rodney J. Read 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Heard this guy on the radio in America, Listen to the Album in America at Virgin, bought it and has been in my car for the last 4 weeks. Worth every penny. I will buy the U.K. version just for the extra track(Sorry)
What's this! A rock record from a reality show contestant... October 23, 2008 Mr. N. J. Henderson (Coventry, England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Right then, firstly, hats off to Chris Daughtry.
br /A talented singer, songwriter and guitarist struggling to break into the music business, decides to try his hand at American Idol.
br /The result? A mediocre 4th place finish.
br /You could have forgiven him for giving up on his dreams, but he dusted himself off, sorted out his self titled band and debut album and this is the quite brilliant result.
br /I've always wondered what an album would sound like without any filler tracks, by that I mean writing an album where every single song could be considered for a single release, well, this is it.
br /Simply brilliant from start to finish, Chris even manages to hire probably one for best guitarists in the world, Slash, for a guest appearance on the hardest track on the album - "What I Want."
br /From the opening rocker "It's Not Over" to the moody power Ballad "Home" Chris display fantastic musical maturity, both in his songwriting and guitar playing.
br /It just goes to show that musical talent will always win through in the end, whether you win an tv reality show or not.
Amazing August 15, 2008 Michael Bradley (Lancashire, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I first heard Daughtry on American Idol singing their single Home. After hearing this single i immediately wanted to hear some of the bands other material. And i wasn`t disappointed.
br / At this point, over a year after buying the album, i must have listened to this album more than any other i own. It isnt a very long album, but i can honestly say that i love every single song on the album, which rarely happens.
br / The lead singer Chris daughtry has a unique sounding voice and the songs have a lot of hooks in them, meaning the words and tunes stay in your head, so pretty soon you know the songs inside out.
br / The lyrics are great, especially on songs Over you, Used to, Home and All these lives.
br / Amazing album, one of the best i own and probably will be for years to come. Congratulations to Daughtry on this incrdible debut album!
Awesome Album September 16, 2007 Manu Ginobili 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The first Daughtry song I heard was on WWE Backlash 2007 and I thought it was good, so I checked out the artist and found out that Chris Daughtry was in American Idol. Ususally I think artists in all forms of talent shows fail, accept Kelly Clarkson. America does better at producing stars from these shows than Engalnd does though, but then American artists in the rock genre and other genres are much better than England. I decided to download the album and upon first hearing it I wasn't that impressed, I thought 'It's Not Over' and 'Home' were really good rock tracks. Then I listened to the album agian on my trip to New York and was blown away, this album rocks. All but 2 songs are 5 stars, the others are 4 stars. This is one of the best albums I own and in my opinion the best of the year (2006). The songs convey great emotions and are all hits. My favourite song is 'Home' which is an amazing track. Daughtry needs to be played in England, the songs will blow away the useless trash in the charts in this country. Overall you must buy this album, you'll love it. Daughtry can be compared to Nickleback but I feel this album is better than Nickleback albums in the past.
Fantastic!! September 17, 2007 Metalhead (england) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
What can is say about this album it's perfect not one rubbish track on here if you're into Bon Jovi and Nickleback this will be right up your street best tracks are Over You and What I Want.
