Stunning August 12, 2007 bobbyjoe88 (England) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Now I have not heard much of Common's work. I have heard him spot verses on many other songs but none of his own, bar Electric Circus which some may say was the black sheep of his back-catalogue. This is easily a classic.
br /
br /Start The Show - Produced by Kanye and the haunting violins make a suspenseful introduction to the album. 5/5
br /
br /The People - "My daughter found Nemo, I found the new Primo" just about says it all. Features Dwele. 4/5
br /
br /Driving Me Wild - Catchy piano loop and hook accompany a song about a girl. Features Lily Allen 3/5
br /
br /I Want You - Produced by will.i.am, about how he loves a woman with souful lyrics and a sultry chorus. 5/5
br /
br /Southside - Electric guitar riffs crackle in the background of the hard-hitting beat. Featuring Kanye. 4/5
br /
br /The Game - Boom Bap beat with scratches by Premier and one of the best verses of the album -
br /
br /"I never kiss the *ss of the masses
br /I'm the black molasses
br /Thick and I last it
br /Past these rap b*stards
br /They try to box me in, like cash is clay
br /Hey I'm like Mohammed when he fasted
br /Opposing the fascists" 5/5
br /
br /Black Maybe - Common touches on rascism with a calm RB beat. 3/5
br /
br /So Far To Go - Another nice RB beat with the neo-soul king D'Angelo. 4/5
br /
br /Break My Heart - Jazzy beats with a soulful sample and powerful emotive lyrics. 4/5
br /
br /Mistunderstood - A powerful soul sampling Nina Simone's song of the same title; Common talks about people taking the wrong route in life. A highlight of the album. 5/5
br /
br /Forever Begins - A beautiful piano hook accompanies this song, an audial canvas where you can almost feel Common travelling through life 5/5
br /
br /Play Your Cards Right - Bilal helps Common with a chorus in this UK exclusive song. This song has a gospel/soul feel about it, almost like Pharoahe Monches Push. Powerful end to this album.

br /When asked about his new album, Common said
br /"I look at music like Bob Marley's or Marvin Gaye's or Stevie Wonder's or A Tribe Called Quest's, that's forever music. And I'm continuing on the quest to make forever music."
br /Common has certainly achieved this, and this is a classic album which will be enjoyed for many, many years.
Superb album July 21, 2007 Mrs. Y. I. Blake 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
Five of the tracks have been around for a while - so almost half of it seemed familiar but the rest of the tracks are equally as good. If you think Electric Circus was his best album this is not for you - but if you thought Be was his best album you will love this.
forever found August 6, 2007 P. J. Ollerton (Bristol, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Common's sound has yet again evolved beautifully in his latest work. I've never heard hip hop or rap as accomplished as this...rich, layered, varied, innovative...a true masterwork that proves his status as the best in the business today. The Kanye inspired (second :) resurrection is complete in Finding Forever, as Common seamlessly blends the many components of hip hop that have moved people for decades in a fresh yet mature and balanced way. Common has truly found forever
The Roots Of Modern Hip Hop September 4, 2007 N. Blessing (Birmingham, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Some reviews have been critical of this album and accusing it of being too "commercial." I think this album needs to be put within the context of modern Hip Hop. Unlike during the mid-nineties Hip Hop is currently being seen as 50 Cent, Kano, Black Eyed Peas and Timbaland! This album sets the bar as what Hip Hop should be and not what is has become.
br / This album is full of well written and well crafted songs discussing a wide range of contemporary issues. The beats are well produced, catchy and easy on the ear! I agree its not as good as albums like "Like Water for Chocolate" but its still an utterly fantastic and eclectic album from Common.
br / I heavily recommend this album to both Common fans and those experiencing Common for the first time, as well as those who love real Hip Hop!
br /Favourite tracks would include, The Game, Misunderstood Start The.
Sublime August 7, 2007 A. Mcnamara (Limerick, Ireland.) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Kanye's best production to date, Common's finest lyrics and delivery. Put simply it's the best hip-hop album since "Train of Thought".
