5 out of 5 stars Great purchase!   November 3, 2007

All the negative reviews talk about the same thing, that there's the 2 disc version of the greatest hits, that it hasn't been long since they released a greatest hits, etc. Well, here's why this is a good release: br / br /1- This is the best SINGLE Whitney cd to own. The other greatest hits was a long 2 disc and they split the uptempo and ballads into seperate discs which made it a very difficult listening experience because you get tired after listening to 18 ballads in a row or 18 dance songs in a row. This cd has MOST of Whitney's hits and it's well balanced and it's on one cd, so you don't have to sit for 2 hours to listen to it. Then you have another compilation Love Whitney but it only includes love songs. And there's also Artist Collection but that one doesn't have any of the hits from her soundtracks and has some unknown songs. So this is the most "friendly" greatest hits because it's not too long and it's very well balanced as a listening experience and in terms of hits. br / br /2- This cd is ment for the casual fans or for people who don't own Whitney cds, it's the simplest way to get most of her hits on one cd. Sure there are many hits missing like All The Man That I Need, Step By Step, Could I Have This Kiss Forever, You Give Good Love (although this song wasn't released in the UK), but still overall it has 80% of Whitney's major hits. br / br /So as a cd by itself, anyone who has an interest in Whitney Houston should get this cd. For those who have the 2 disc greatest hits or the big fans who have most of her albums, then you can pass...

5 out of 5 stars Strictly The Hits   October 29, 2007

If you only have a passing interest in Whitney Houston, then this 'Ultimate Collection' is the one to buy. The previous 'Greatest Hits' was bogged down by lesser known singles and remixes that could only be classed as filler, plus it was needlessly spread over two discs. 'The Ultimate Collection' sticks with the radio hits, ranging from the popular early ballads to the slick urban/rb sound of her more recent work. The only minor nitpick is the exclusion of two collaborations, one with Enrique Iglesias on 'Could I Have This Kiss Forever' and the other with Kelly Price and Faith Evans on 'Heartbreak Hotel'. Both were pretty big hits, so I guess their exclusion has something to do with royalties to the other artists. Other than that, sit back and enjoy a single disc of nothing but the hits.

5 out of 5 stars All neatly packed on one CD at last!   October 27, 2007

I disagree with the other two reviewers who haven't actually commented on the music. Much prefer all her hits on one disc than two sprawling 78 minute ones that take over two and a half hours to play. All the greats are here from one of the most powerful voices ever. Doubt it'll do too well though as subsequent hits collections rarely do (Beatles excepted!)

5 out of 5 stars Forget the fact that she's done a Collection before, shouldn't we concentrate on the singing?   December 28, 2007

Whitney Houstan is a Brilliant singer and like all her other 'collections' she has proved to us once more what she is made of. Compare her to Leona and to others and you will see the difference. br / br /Get this, if you have no other Great Collections of Whitney. br / br /STD
