Amazon.co.uk Review Poor old Britney Spears hasn't exactly had a good time of it lately, what with her recent lackluster MTV performance and dubious appearances all over the tabloids. iBlackout/i, her fifth studio album, is being touted as a bit of a comeback album, the title allegedly alluding to how she is "blacking out" all negative media coverage and focusing on getting back to form. Backed by an array of superstar beatmakers--Bloodshy Avant, Pharrell Williams, T-Pain, Danja--iBlackout/i presents a soundtrack that brims with trashy new-wave `nowness'. Tunes veer from the highly infectious "Freakshow" and "Toy Soldier" to the unconvincingly lascivious "Get Naked," "Ooh, Ooh Baby", and downright uninspiring ("Radar" and "Hot As Ice")--with some inroads into dirty disco ("Heaven on Earth") along the way. The tunes aren't bad, but the brittle, robotic soundtrack does start to feel dated and dull, especially when Britney's vocals are so intensely processed they feel equally starchy and disinterested. Comeback album it may be, but "Blackout" doesn't point towards any clear future for Britney--nor for pop music in general. i--Danny McKenna/i

Never though I'd say this but I actually like this album. I like it enough to give it 5 stars.
br /Okay there are a few downsides like Britney's voice received a major make-over with layered with echoes and overdubs. The album may not go into my "best ever collection" but it will be blaring in my headphones for few weeks - that's for sure. This album would be a great at a party or just relaxing in the comforts of your own home in front of the stereo system.

Amazing Pop Album October 19, 2007 A. Tew (Northamptonshire, England) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I'm sure people had their doubts when they heard Britney was releasing another album in the midst of her troubles. But fear not as this album is amazing. A good one for all those that love grown up pop-dance-urban-rnb music. Will definetely be buying this when it is released.
Britney Blackout October 23, 2007 Ms. Naomi J. Lambert (England) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
In my opinion I absolutely love the new album. I have made my friends listen to some of the songs and we're obsessed! Highly recommended for any Britney fan. I have heard a majority of the tracks that have been leaked online and I am impressed. There are a variety of songs that cover various genres like Dance, Pop, and RB. The material is definately different and more experimental than her previous songs. Radar and Ooh Ooh Baby are songs that really make an impact and are incredibly catchy. I think Ooh Ooh baby is rather similar to Rachel Stevens L.A EX but far better! GO BRITNEY!
Haters Give It 1 Star October 23, 2007 Jordan Lester (Louisiana, USA) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
All of Britney's albums on these review sites usually have low ratings because people come on here and rate her low because they dislike the way the media portrays her. The album itself is awesome. Very experimental and different, not following any guidelines. Love it.
