Rick Ross' long awaited second album trilla is a great follow up to his debut port of miami. The album boasts many good tracks starting with all i have in this world (Japanese Denim) Ft Mannie Fresh, The Boss With T-Pain and Speedin' Ft R. Kelly. The album also features Trey songz on 'This is the life', Nelly on 'Here I am', and Jay-Z on 'Maybach Music'. An allstar cast feature on 'Luxury Tax', including Lil' Wayne, Young Jeezy Trick Daddy. The album ends with a fast-paced 'Reppin' My City, Ft Triple C's And Brisco, and then 'I'm Only Human'. Rick Ross states his big boss status, like he did on port of miami, with his loud husky vocals and drug lord persona. However there are not really any outstanding songs like 'Hustlin', 'Push It' and 'I'm Bad' compared to port of miami. Overall still a good album worth buying, selling almost 200,000 in its first week, outselling the likes of Fat Joe and Snoop Dogg.

One of these days I'm going to have to give the man his props, 2 albums and twice he outdid my expectations. I only bought the last album because of "Hustlin" and was surprised by tracks like "Push It", "Cross That Line" "Where My Money". Rick Ross' ear for beats was proven but I had my doubts about his raps.

br /This time around he has the Hip-Hop Brains Trust over at MTV to thank for my hard earned bucks. A top 5 birth was a complete surprise for me and I had to check out why. I must say that this album too exceeded my expectations, its not to say it is without its faults, tracks like "I'm Only Human" show that he is exactly that. But tracks like "Luxury Tax" and "Maybach Music" are tracks that I would have thought are bigger than the 300 pound Ross but he handles them like a ... BOSS. "Maybach Music" couldn't have a better feature in Jay-Z and it has my favourite line from Ross' (Stuffed shells thanks to crack got cracked crabs and lobsters, not all mobsters imposters). And no that's not biting, to quote Dr. Carter, "its called recycling RE reciting something cause you just like it so you say it just like it. Some say its biting but I say its enlightening besides BIG was one of the brightest....lol

br /On the strength of those two tracks alone the album gets 4 stars but he shows and proves throughout the album. The singles "The Boss" "Speedin'" do not live up to his previous efforts beat wise but his flow is tighter than ever (Ten black Maybachs back to back in a lane). The same can be said about "All I have In this World" which has an OK chorus but is saved by Ross' flow. The whole package, flow, chorus and beats comes together perfectly on "Money Make Me Come" should have been a single!

br /Overall Rick Ross stands up, flow wise, on this album and lyrically he has a few gems littered throughout the album. But he loses points for lacking depth in terms of content, you'd swear that Miami is a city without problems from listening to this CD.
