| Customer Reviews: Excellent Varied Collection from Country Superstar! January 28, 2008 Kevan James 21 out of 22 found this review helpful
Since Willie Nelson's 2004 album "It Always Will Be", we've had his reggae album, his collection of songs by Cindy Walker, the re-issue of his Atlantic recordings (with a mass of unreleased material), a joint CD and DVD release of his appearance on "Live in Austin", an album recorded with ryan Adams, and a 2CD set recorded with Ray Price and Merle Haggard. Despite all these, this is the first since that 2004 collection that feels to me like a 'proper' Willie Nelson album, and a damn fine album it is too!

br /When I first heard that Kenny Chesney was going to be producing Willie, my heart sank, imagining an album full of the same country-beachbum stuff that Chesney has been producing over the last few years. But thankfully these fears have not been realised!
br /
br /I would say that this is definitely not the most 'country' album that Willie's ever produced, but it's beautifully laid back and thoughtful (not unlike Alan Jackson's "Like Red on a Rose" in places), the playing throughout is first class, and Willie sounds as good as he ever has.
br /
br /The highlights for me are the almost 8 minute version of Bob Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody", with the last few minutes given over to an instrumental section featuring Willie on Trigger, Mickey Raphael on harmonica, and a really funky horn section, and the version of Kris Kristofferson's "Moment of Forever", after which the album is titled. The horn section also appear on "Taking on Water", with some marvellous hammond organ. Willie's own songs for the collection - "Over You Again", and "Always Now" - show that his song writing skills are still very present, and "You Don't Think I'm Funny Anymore", which he's been performing live for a few years, is one of his best songs for years - and it is actually very funny!! The oddest track is probably his take on Big Rich's "The Bob Song", about a pirate named Bob (really! No joke!), which here appears almost like a sea-shanty!
br /
br /My biggest complaint about "It Always Will Be" was the overdose of duets. Here we only get the one, a pairing with producer Kenny Chesney - not the strongest track on the album but not at all bad!
br /
br /So, Willie Nelson in 2008 - not as country as he's been in the past, but clearly demonstrating that he's got what it takes! It's only January but here's a contender for Album of the Year!

br /Highly recommended!

A new era for Willie March 27, 2008 Mr Hollywood (Hollywood UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This album is quite similar in style as Songbird which was released in 2006. Willie has moved away slightly from the country music which made him famous and developed an enormous following of fans, and has embrace this new style of music which I think he does very well. It's moodier than some of his past music, but it's also full of character, emotion and uniqueness.
br /
br /This album is better than Songbird in my opinion, but with the recent release of 'Songs of Cindy Walker' Willie proved that pure country music is still his speciality. Credit to him though as this album is still a cracker and it really surprised me. It's definately one of those 'the more you listen to it, the better it gets' albums.

br /The Bob Song is the best, with its pirate-themed music and humorous context. Moment of Forever, Keep me from Blowing away, Gravedigger, I'm Alive and Louisiana are all truly emotional songs and are suited to no-one better than Willie Nelson. Songs 10, 11 12 are more upbeat and all feature great rhythm, and damn they get you singing along. A couple of the other songs can be a bit repetitive in terms of lyrics, especially 'Gotta Serve Somebody', but they're still worth listening to.

br /What can I say, Willie is back on form and although I'll always be a bigger fan of the music from his 'Red Headed Stranger' and 'Phases Stages' and even Highwayman days, change is good and so is this album.
Simply Brillient May 6, 2008 Mr. Msd Hathway (London United Kingdom) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
True I have been a Willie Nelson fan for many years. Just at a time when you perhaps expect a drop in his vocal ability after all Willie is well past 70, the man comes up with one of the best recordings of his long career. A rich and strong voice, and a fantastic recording engineerhas produced an album to savor. The man even rocks it on some tracks. Wonderful must buy stuff.
Willie Nelson: Moment Of Forever March 3, 2009 Stitchtrek 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for my Dad as he's a huge Willie Nelson fan and he didn't have this CD and I'd tried to get it for him from somewhere else, after a friend told me about it, but they said it was no longer in stock and weren't sure when they'd get more so I came to Amazon and found it straight away and it arrived in a matter of days.

br /As to the CD well considering it's hardly been out of his CD player I'd say its a very good CD. Moment Of Forever
Superb!! June 3, 2009 S. K. FLORA (Sutton Coldfield,U.K.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a brilliant return to form for a legend of music. There are no duff songs on here or any filler tracks, just heartfelt brilliantly sung masterpices from the legend that is Willie Nelson.
br /I have only been into his music for a few years but have collected most of his stuff and this album is amongst the best of the best!!
