Never have I written a review before but I simply couldn't hold back from trying to spread the word about this incredible set! I've always been a fan of breaky hip-hop type stuff but never enough really to invest but recently, after getting a bit exhausted with my stale record collection, I decided to dabble in the trusted FabricLive recordings...and my word was I blown away! This mix has you grinning from start to finish with possibly the best first 20 minutes of any cd I have ever owned! Seriously good party music that EVERYBODY will love! Buy it...I dare you to be disappointed!

4 out of 5 stars Solid Sample Heavy Mix   April 12, 2008

DJ Yoda brings his scratching and sampling skills to the Fabric decks to deliver an impressive hip-hop workout. As always, his track selection is original and quirky, taking music from a wide range of influences. The Violent Femmes 'Blister in the Sun' is a wonderful starting point for the mix and Yoda drops heavy breaks over the top with a few cuts and stabs for good measure. From here the energy starts to build as does Yoda's frenzied sampling and mixing. The brilliant 'It's all love' from Ghost is a standout track and I was pleased to hear a little electronica from Herve and the Chemical Brothers. The only point where I cringed a bit was Coral 'In the Morning'. It fits nicely in place but sticks out like a sore thumb. br / br /The good thing about Fabriclive 39 is that although it is essentially a hip-hop set mixed in a hip-hop style, there are plenty of non other genres in the mix for non hip-hop fans. Something to note also is that amazon list the CD as having 32 tracks when in actual fact it has 25. I don't know if this is because of the amount of samples used or not but check the tracklist on the fabric website for confirmation. br / br /Like this? Try: Fabriclive 27: DJ Format

I must admit, when i first listened to this mix, i was not exactly enamoured, but having listened to it a few times since, i've liked it more and more. Thought the choice of the Coral stuck in the middle of the mix was bit of a strange one, bit like the Datsuns during the John Peel mix earlier in the series, but all in all an above average mix for the series.
