| Customer Reviews: Classic Album April 24, 2008 Valiant Exile (Kent) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was certainly one of the best albums of the 90's. This edition features a superb live performance from Montreaux show of 1991. Worth getting it just for this DVD alone. Each musician takes turns to put on fantastic show.
A MASTERPIECE - NO LESS!! December 8, 2008 FAMOUS NAME (UNITED KINGDOM) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
br /What a masterpiece this was from 'Simply Red'! Certainly has to be the peak of their career, and will probably remain forever unsurpassed!
br /
br /This plays like a greatest hits for them from 1991 and 1992 with no less than five 'official' hit singles they had that year - leaving the remaining album material sounding very much the same calibre. Surprisingly, the highest any of these classic singles ever reached in the charts was only an unimpressive number eight which was the title song itself from the album, and it was simply unbelievable that the beautiful haunting ballad 'For Your Babies' should only reach an insulting number nine, when it really should have given the band their first ever chart-topper, but then I guess this was probably due to the fact that everybody had already bought the album anyway...
br /
br /Certainly one of the greatest albums from the 90s - and at a time when pop music was in heavy decline, and thus the best we can ever expect from 'Simply Red'.
br /
br /Simply marvellous!
