5 out of 5 stars Smart slinky pop rock from the days when MOR was still a bit disco...   February 3, 2008
A.A.C.M (Essex)
According to their record company, in 2006, for one in every 5 minutes, a radio station, somewhere, was playing a single by The Feeling from their massive selling "Twelve Stops And Home" album. In 2008, this looks set to be the case once more. br / br /Off the scene since the underperforming final single from their last album, "Rose" from this time last year, the band are back with the first single from second album "Join With Us" that sounds every inch like it's been litmus tested against every radio station going. But in a good way - in fact, make that a very very good way. br / br /Perhaps drawing on inspiration from the band's good friend (and Richard's wife) Sophie Ellis-Bextor, "I Thought It Was Over" is a rollicking discotastic invite to the dancefloor which still carries the band's trademark 70's pop rock sound a la Supertramp. It's their best single since "I Love It When You Call" and certainly deserves a top 3 position at least.

5 out of 5 stars For the sake of 'Colombia'...   February 20, 2008

I'm writing this review, not because of the single (which is decent enough) but its B-sides. I hate buying singles because they clutter up my collection, but when the single is out the week before the album it seems even more pointless. In this case I'm glad I did buy it. 'Don't Make It Easy' is better than a number of tracks on the new album and 'Colombia' is better than any of them. 'Colombia' is very uptempo, full of great keyboard lines and (I know everyone says it) reminiscent of ELO at their very best. It may be the ELO tinge that saw this song left off the album but whatever the reasons melodic pop fans really should get hold of this. Also, given that the album is great in places but less consistent than 'Twelve Stops...', these two tracks fill out the new body of material nicely.

This latest offering from the Feeling is as ear-catching as anything currently around. It's very keyboard-driven but all the band's hallmarks are here - exquisite harmonies, chirpy guitar... An extremely enjoyable record. On the basis of this track the band have built promisingly on the highly effective formula of the debut album - can't wait for album #2.

5 out of 5 stars Great new single from The Feeling - best one yet too   February 17, 2008

Barcode: 0602517618374 br / br /What i love about this song is that while keeping everything that made The Feeling so likeable the first time round it also shows they're willing to evolve and boy have they done good. I Thought It Was Over has got a real dancey feel to it, touches of 70s disco (in fact it's very reminiscent of ELO's Olivia Newton John's classic Xanadu). Great vocals and very catchy. br / br /The two b-sides are a mixed bag. Don't Make It Easy is a nice little ballad but does drift towards the forgettable side of things whereas Columbia is a suitably epic showtune styled song in the vein of their first single Sewn and is well worth getting your hands on. br / br /Track Listing: br / br /1. I Thought It Was Over br /2. Don't Make It Easy br /3. Columbia br /4. I Thought It Was Over (Video)
