Amazon.co.uk Review What do you do after you've reinvented a genre? Well, going on iGraduation/i, the third full-length artist album by hip-hop's most famous Noughties auteur Kanye West, you hunt across the pop landscape for fresh sounds ripe for plunder. Most obviously, there's Daft Punk, whose track "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" forms the vocoder foundation to "Stronger". But Kanye's learnt more from the robots than this straight steal would suggest--indeed, a good proportion of iGraduation/i sounds informed by their vintage synthesisers and noveau `80s feel. Elsewhere, there's much to suggest Kanye's pop ambitions have no sign of waning: the opulent "Good Life" rolls along on a hook snatched from Michael Jackson's "PYT (Pretty Young Thing)", while "Homecoming" follows Jay-Z's lead and borrows the vocal talents of Coldplay's Chris Martin. The album's not without the occasional goof--"Drunk and Hot Girls", a boozy tale set to the tempo of an Eastern European drinking song, is something Outkast could more comfortably handle. But thankfully, there's also numerous moments where Kanye simply does what Kanye does best. "Can't Tell Me Nothing" is a sleek, swaggering statement of self-assurance, while "Everything I Am" kicks off on a battle tack but gradually softens, the sound of a man balancing power and responsibility: "Last year Chicago had 600 caskets," muses Kanye, "Man, killing's some wack shit". --iLouis Pattison/i

West at his Best. October 4, 2007 John Major-Bond (Glasgow Scotland) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
A fair bit better than Late registration but not quite up to the standard of College Dropout, Kanye delivers one of the best hip-hop albums to be released in the last 10 years.
br /
br /Kanye cuts the crap with this album, with no annoying skits every three or four songs this album is a mere 13 tracks long, compared to the 20 odd tracks of the previous albums. Kicking off with the basic Good morning, West sets the tone for the album. Minimilist beats and limited guest appearances, highlighting Kanye's lyrical talent.
br /
br /The jay-z sample on good morning fits perfectly. The album rolls along nicely (with Champion being a real spirit lifter), coming to stronger, the daft punk sampled hit that i'm sure you have all heard. The next song, i wonder, is classic Kanye west, with him spitting over a soul sample.
br /
br /Good life sees the first guest appearance on the album, with t-pain singing on the chorus. Akon must have been busy. It's the third single off the album and deservedly so. Next comes Can't Tell Me Nothing, i'm sure you'll have heard that. One of the best tracks on the album in my opinion.
br /
br /Lil wayne features on Barry Bonds, the purest hip-hop track on the album, but his voice is annoying to me. Drunk and hot girls features mos def and is the most musically experimental track on the album. Mos def sings rather than raps, wich is refreshingly fantastic.
br /
br /Flashing lights is much like i wonder and dj premier's addiction to everything i am is excellent. The glory is one of the stand out tracks on the album, again showing off Kanye's effective use of sampling, much the same as the college dropout album. Homecoming, as i'm sure you'll know features Chris Martin from Coldplay, a song that has been remastered from when it appeared back in 2004.
br /
br /Big Brother is, in my opinion, the best song on the album. With lyrics both praising his mentor jay-z and explaining how close the two are, but also how West felt Jay was keeping him at a distance in the early stages of his career. A deep moment for Kanye.
br /
br /Overall, Graduation is an outstanding album that closely resembles the Dropout. An excelltn product from West, and well worth the wait.
Change Is Good! September 14, 2007 One Love, One Heart, Lets Get Together... (GREAT Britain) 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
OK, lets get this into perspective people;
br /1. Kanye West is still at the top of his game.
br /2. Graduation is a brilliant album.
br /3. Change is a good thing.
br /4. Kanye West is a legend.
br /
br / Just because this doesn't sound like The College Dropout or Late Registration it does not constitute being a poor album. That's just naivety. Kanye has 'switched the style up' on Graduation - it's fresh, it's innovative and it's bloody great!
br /
br / I agree that there is no 'Jesus Walks', however, as amazing a song that was, why would you want to buy an album that has not moved on from the last? "Because I enjoyed it" I hear you cry. Well, if you'd just open your mind up a little you might just enjoy this one too. Stop living in the past people!
br /
br / The best tracks on the album, for me, include 'Champion', the epic 'Stronger', the upbeat 'Good Life', the fierce 'Can't Tell Me Nothing' and, as much as the man is not my cuppa tea (Chris Martin), 'Homecoming' is pure quality. "Flashing Lights", "I Wonder" and "Everything I Am" are classic laid-back Kanye, and contain some genius lyrics.
br /
br / Every track has something to offer, there is nothing wrong with this album whatsoever. In fact, it is probably one of the best albums I have. Kanye never disappoints and already, I cannot wait for the next album!
br /
br / To conclude, if you like change you'll like Graduation. It contains some magical tracks and in my opinion, Kanye has worked his genius again.
br /
br /Kanye reigns supreme!
The best West album yet September 17, 2007 KM (England) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Very rarely do I listen to an album the whole way through and like each and every track on it. This is one of those rare occasions. I'm a big Kanye West fan and do enjoy most of his production work and this has some of the best I've heard from his short career so far. Taking the songs to bit more of a serious route but still has all of the fun lyrics like previous albums.
br /
br /Stand-out tracks for me would have to be "Good Morning", "Flashing Lights" and "Everything I Am". The single, "Stronger", although ok, is probably the weakest (no pun intended) track on the whole album, so if you're debating a purchase of this album, don't base it on this track and just trust me that it is awesome.

Kanye West - Graduation November 1, 2007 C. Allen (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Now this may offend others, but for me this is Kanye's best album to date.
br /The albums for me have got progressively better, and this have some truly great tracks.
br /I have to mention Flashing Lights first of all, some reviews have not picked up on how great this track is. It's basically a slowed down dance track (which appeals greatly to me, being a mad dance fan that i am) Kanye's always good with his samples, and its so evident here.
br /My close joint second favourites are Stronger and Homecoming (which features a certain Coldplay star).
br /Other great tracks include... you know what, the whole album pretty much.
br /You don't have to be a hip hop head to appreciate Kanye's skills, this is a terrific album, buy now!
believe the hype September 10, 2007 R. McKellar 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
i hate the way this whole 50 cent thing has overshadowed the release of a 3rd great kanye album. it's frustrating to see people come on here and give the album 1 star just because they prefer 50. kanye west has never been about "beef" with other rappers, he represents in my eyes a revolution in hip hop along with others away from the violent era of the early 2000s.
br /
br /here are some songs fans of hip hop, kanye and good music in general will enjoy
br /
br /good life with t-pain - amazing driving song with uplifting lyrics and typical kanye sampling and beats
br /
br /stronger - obvious but this single (a number 1 in the uk) is a great club record as well as being another example in my opinion of kanye's ability to transcend genre's by using a dance sample
br /
br /can't tell me nothing - another great cruising song in your car with typical kanye confidence, excuse me, is you saying somethin?
br /
br /good morning - i have this song as my alarm for the mornings at the moment, a beautiful record which shows kanye at his original best
br /
br /big brother - touching tribute to jay z, puts me in mind of the game's tributes to dre on the documentary and doctor's advocate if you want a comparison
br /
br /i wonder - another great sample and musically brilliant
br /
br /that should be enough to start with, enjoy a fantastic album
