Tony Bennett is a craftsman at singing. He perfects the songs. br /This CD has a very good range of his songs. br /Good value for money.

This 3 cd box (3 albums - "Cloud 7", "Tony" and "The Beat of My Heart" + some welcome bonus tracks) is very very pleasing, particularly if you like this classic - style american crooning. br /Bennnet is in fine form; fresh and young, with more than half songs at least slightly swinging (among players on these three albums are Chuck Wayne, Jo Jones, Art Blakey...)... br /What's there not to like? br /I must add that the liner notes are a bit too short, the box design is far from perfect, but when it comes to music it's sooooooo smooth and lovely. Since the last of 3 albums - "The Beat of my Heart" - is most jazzy of the three, it's my favorite, but other stuff is great as well.

These are record to CD transfers and the sound quality is clear throughout and the original albums dating from 1954 to 57 have bonus tracks added too (the1951 singles). This makes 50 songs in all at an amazing price. br / br /Cloud 7 featured Chuck Wayne as guitarist and musical director; Tony had the big orchestral names of Percy Faith and Ray Conniff; The Beat of Your Heat had Ralph Sharon as musical director. As far as formative albums and singles go this trio of discs has the lot. Attractively packaged it makes for a great addition to the budget priced Tony Bennett CDs now available in the UK. The running times reflect the old LP era but with the bonus tracks come in at a respectable total of approx 142 minutes. br / br /The liner notes are by Michael Heatley and the compilation put together by Glenn Gretlund. br /

Was very disappointed with these albums. Some of the songs were so early that it did not sound like him. I thought they would be his "hit" songs, br /but these were obviously much more obscure. br / br /Now I know why they were so cheap!!!
