| Customer Reviews: Excellent Pop/Country Debut From New Girl Julianne!! June 16, 2008 CountryGal (Ireland) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Julianne was best known as the x2 champion winner on Dancing With The Stars in the USA,but she can leave that behind her now as she's now a bonafide country singer!
br /Produced by David Malloy(who's worked with Reba McEntire) this is an excellent collection of very slick, polished Pop/Country music. She also has a stronger voice than her counter-parts Taylor Swift Kellie Pickler! From her first hit That Song In My Head,to the catchy You,You,You and the cracking uptempos About Life and Hello, this album will have you singing along in no time.
br /She also includes some fantastic ballads like the sensual Hide Your Matches, the excellent message to teens Jimmy Rae McGee(about not been pressured into sex when you're not ready) and the very touching Help Me,Help You(about alcoholism),she delivers a very mature message with this album without been too heavy.
br /With songs like these that skick in your head and a no.1 album under her belt now,Julianne is gonna go a long way in country music...
And I've had that song in my head all day.... November 5, 2009 K. Stone (High Wycombe, England) An amazing debut album from a multi-talented 21 year old. While Julianne Hough hasn't written any of the songs on the album she succeeds in making ever song her own and giving them all her stamp. She teams up with her brother Derek Hough in order to make the beautiful "Dreaming Under The Same Moon" come to life and their voices really work well together. The brilliantly catchy "That Song In My Head" really does what it says and there seems to be a brilliant message underneath each of Julianne's brilliant songs. "Jimmy Ray McGee" really catches your attention as both that and "Help Me, Help You" are both very different from the other up-beat, catchy songs. They are a welcome change from the rest of the album and really succeed in showing a completely unseen side to Julianne. The only criticism of the album I would say is that it would be nice to see Julianne do something different to set her apart from the other modern country artists who she is very similar to (such as Kellie Pickler) or those who surpass her with their vocals (such as Martina McBride or Trisha Yearwood)all in all though that is not something that is easily attentainable so I would have to say that this is a brilliant debut album from a stunning singer (who in my opinion is a lot better than Kellie Pickler) and is one that I cannot stop playing. Bring on the next one!
