5 out of 5 stars Im not a country fan...BUT THIS IS GREAT!!   September 10, 2008

I absolutly love this album. After listening to her last album "A public affair", I thought it was corny and cheesy and I only liked a coulple of songs and thought that she wouldnt produce anything good anymore so when I got this Album and started to listen, I love it! There is not one corny or cheesy song and I can listen to the whole album without cringing!! Her voice is absolutly amazing, I think its probably the best album Jessica has done and im not even a country music fan!!

5 out of 5 stars Suprisingly great album!!   August 27, 2009

I was looking for some new music browsing cd charts etc and came across this and I thought I'd give it a go! Im becoming a bit of a country music convert (due mainly to the awesomeness that is Rascall Flatts) and I already owned one of her other albums so I was at least familiar with her stuff, I thought her music was ok, nice upbeat, goood time music..... but this, this took me totally off guard, really enjoyed it even with my first listen, and I think its a very welcomed departure from her pop music. Her country music goes down a treat!! its very well done.Has sort of a relaxing-on-a-sunday-morning sound to it... br / good on ya Jessica!! I'd say. Would definately recommend this.

4 out of 5 stars Perfect fit for Jessica Simpson   December 27, 2008

I have to say that I think this style of country music works perfectly for Jessica Simpson. It wasn't too country for one to say it was unnatural. The album deals mainly with love but also other issues thus making it well rounded. So we have the flirtatious 'Come on over', Break up songs like 'When I loved you like that' and 'still don't stop me' as well as 'Remember that' about an abusive relationship. However, Jessica also sought to inspire with uplifting tracks like 'Pray out loud' and 'still beautiful' which is an ode to Jessica's positivity about life even at the saddest of times. 'Man enough' and 'Might as well be making love' are truly beautiful and powerful songs, as is the title track 'Do you know'. This is the amazing duet with Dolly Parton where she serves only to compliment Jessica's vocal which reach a spine tingling peak at the end adlibs. br / br /Ignore the dud reviews out there that judge this album really on Jessica's partly tabloid created image/reputation rather than on its own merit. This is probably her best and most mature, honest and natural album. I didn't give it 5 stars only because on my earlier listens, I really felt that there could have been one or two more songs of an uptempo nature. br / br /Have a look out for the bonus itune track 'Never not beautiful'. That's a great song about loving those many special people in your life and the little things they do. Very pure and honest. It is a shame this was no on the CD copy.

3 out of 5 stars Pretty good, just a bit lacking in variety.   September 7, 2008

This album is by no means bad at all, having listened to it the whole way through though the only criticism would be that there is not a lot of variety from song to song. Having said that there certaintly variety when it comes to song content. 'Remember That' is a song about a violent relationship, 'Pray Out Loud' is (as the name indicates) about praying about frustration and the others tackle the issue of love from a variety of different angles. br /If you want a feel for what the album might sound like, think Carrie Underwood's second album just a bit less interesting. Working with country music heavyweights Brett James John Shanks, the album is a fairly even mix of country pop influences. Some of the stand-out tracks would be lead singles 'Come On Over' 'Remember That' 'Sipping On History' and Dolly Parton duet 'Do You Know'. The reason I think these stand-out are because they are the ones which have been injected with the most feeling and emotion! The other songs are OK but become a bit bland after only a few listens. br /Overall, this album isn't bad, but it isn't amazong either. If you are considering buying it I would give it a listen first. It may be just your thing - but it does need checking first, though worth a shot all the same (",)

Still Beautiful - i love this song although sounds very similar to taylor swifts stay beautiful song one of the stand out tracks 9/10 br /7. Still Don't Stop Me 7/10 br /8. When I Loved You Like That 6/10 br /9. Might as Well Be Making Love 5/10 br /10. Man Enough 6/10 br /11. Do You Know - Dolly Parton, , Jessica Simpson 8/10 br / br /I felt the album started of great but then fizzled out at the end with a great last song, but i think i much perfer her old sound but she can still pull off the country sound as there a some real stand out tracks on here but i would rather see her go back to her previous sound br /
