What a wonderful collection this is. When Annie began her solo career in earnest with 'Why' and the album 'Diva' she was the biggest selling UK female vocalist and had 'Brit' awards left , right and centre. Since then her popularity has waned slightly but this collection should put Annie back in the charts where she belongs.
br /Annies big hits 'Why', 'Little Bird' and 'Walking On Broken Glass' are all included here on disc one along with the massive hit 'No More I Love Yous' taken from her second solo album'Medusa'. There is a also a fine selection of 'should have been hits'including 'Pavement Cracks'and 'A Thousand Beautiful Things' the highlights from her third and rather dark album 'Bare'. Why these tracks were not hit singles is a mystery along with 'Dark Road' and 'Sing' from Annies most recent wonderful album 'Songs Of Mass Destruction'
br /From the point of view of the fan who already has everything , there are two new tracks including Annies new single 'Shining Light' which is such an upbeat and positive song that must surely give Annie a deserved hit.
br /Also for the fans there is a second disc which includes harder to find gems such as Annies Ocsar winning track 'Into The West' taken from the soundtrack of the final Lord of the Rings epic 'The Return of The King', and Annies take on 'Everytime We Say Goodbye' recorded for the fabulous
br /'Red Hot and Blue' album. The only thing missing here for me is Annie's single with Al Green 'Put A little Love In Your Heart' which gave Annie her fist US Top Ten hit away from Eurythmics.
br /Disc three includes a fine selection on Annies wonderful videos. The video for 'Shining Light' is already a favourite as Annie appears to be a having a great time in her dressing up box!!
br /This is such a good collection of quality songs, and with 3 discs it's excelent value for money too.

How can one measure the whole worth of this wonderful woman and her work?

br /Mrs Wolf done good. Standing in line for two hours yesterday evening in one
br /of London's largest musical emporiums means that Mr Wolf is now the very proud
br /owner of a signed copy (with love no less) of Ms Lennox's retrospective collection.
br /
br /Thankyou Mrs Wolf.

br /The two CDs and one DVD which comprise this inestimable release present an
br /overview of her solo work to date. Many of the tracks will, of course, be familiar
br /to her fans but it is good nonetheless to have them lined up according to her will
br /and whim. Ms Lennox has every reason to be proud.
br /
br /The voice needs no introduction. Undoubtably one of the great voices of our time.
br /Instantly recognisable. A touchstone for all that might count for wisdom and
br /true feeling in a world gone mad. A national treasure. (I hope that we may be
br /forgiven for sharing just a little of Scotland's glory).
br /
br /I guess we all have our favorite songs from her repertoire. Some of mine are here.
br /
br /The achingly beautiful melody and lyrics of 'Why' must surely have the power
br /to thaw even the coldest heart. It connects at the deepest emotional level because
br /each and every one of us has had a 'Why' moment at some point in our lives.
br /
br /That's what she does you see. Touches us. Reassures us. Connects her fears with ours.
br /Cheers us on. These are rare qualities in a world of quick fix musical formulae.
br /There is no formula here other than solid gold. ( Au. Atomic number 79 ).

br /So good to hear 'Love Song For A Vampire' from Mr Coppola's 'Dracula' again and
br /a small pity that the video was not included on the DVD.
br /
br /The inclusion of Joni Mitchell tribute, 'Ladies Of The Canyon' was a nice suprise.
br /It's a truly stunning arrangement which casts new light on a great song.
br /
br /Other highlights include an incredibly affecting performance of Cole Porter's
br /'Every Time We Say Goodbye'. A brave move too given Ella Fitzgerald's historic rendition.
br /The live take of 'Many Rivers To Cross', is a pure blast of undiluted, unadulterated soul.
br /
br /'Shining Light', a new recording, is an uplifting experience.
br /Ms Lennox really does sound as though she is enjoying herself.
br /
br /'Dream Angus' and 'Hush, Hush, Hush' are simply sublime.
br /
br /Nice to have the videos too. These small art films have always allowed
br /our heroine to express the complexity of her elusive personality.
br /They are both evocative and fun in equal measure.
br /The culminating multiple Minnie Mouse moments of
br /'Waiting In Vain' never fail to make me laugh out loud !
br /'Precious' still packs a mighty punch seventeen years on.
br /
br /The packaging, however, which others have correctly
br /pointed out, is very cheap and nasty.
br /Our Lady deserved a finer frock for her graduation ball !

br /A stunning achievement.

I was lucky enough to see Annie Lennox recently at an instore signing in Oxford St,London.She fulfilled all my expectations of a woman who has triumphed over much adversity in her life,by using her considerable musical talents and sheer hard work.

br /This 3 CD collection is a treasure-trove of musical joy.There are 14 tracks on CD 1 and 8 on CD 2 and the DVD is magical.

br /My favourite songs include Cold,very dark,deep and beautiful,written by Annie;Dark Road(also self-penned)and the unsurpassable Every Time We Say Goodbye,a soaring heartwrenching cover of an immortal Cole Porter song,which moved me to tears when I listened to it.

br /Inspirational,spiritual(Annie is a Buddhist)and immovable,this album should be remembered as one of the great releases of 2009.

...I am a fan of ms lennox and also her extensive eurythmics catalogue. Im agreement with other reviewers; i feel this compilation features most of lennox's solo career highlights...
br /Its refreshing to see could have been singles for her 2003 masterpiece 'bare' (classics 'pavement cracks' and '1,000 beautiful things'. Please buy this copy as it includes the bonus cd and the dvd with all of annie's excellent videos..my dvd faults are the omission of 'love song for a vampire' and the recent making of two very basic videos for '1,000 beautiful things' and 'pavement cracks'.
br /This collection is outstanding though, none-the-less; and it will confirm (or introduce) the listener to one of the world's most outstanding and talent artists and voices..love live annie lennox...

from the tourists, then eurthymics and then her solo career annie's voice has stood the test of time, her vocals are unique and she has had some great solo releases all of which are included her!

br /"diva" the first album did brilliantly, "medusa" an album of cover versions also, however the follow up "bare" did little - partly due to its delicate yes personal feel, the last album although a true return to form, and probably her best release also went largely unnoticed!
br /
br /here you get all the hits from the huges hits "why?" "walking on broken glass" and "little bird" as well as all the other singles from the albums and a couple of new tracks.
br /
br /it is a stunning collection and the bonus dvd features all the videos for the singles, and annie always delivered a truely amazing performance in each and everyone!
br /
br /a must for fans old and new..buy this rather than just the cd album due to the stunning videos!
