5 out of 5 stars Mammal Power !!   October 4, 2008
The Wolf (uk)

The Animal Kingdom is full of sound. From the smallest single-celled creature,(Groove Amoeba) to the magnificent mountainous mass of the great Blue Whale, there is a world of elusive and exotic cadence lurking behind every beak, snout, proboscis mouth and muzzle. Sometimes within, sometimes beyond our range of hearing. Bird, fish, reptile, insect all enriching our experience with songs of almost infinite variation. br / br /With the Pussycat Dolls' new album 'Doll Domination', however, evolution asserts its' own magisterial influence in a wholly winning way. br / br /Make no mistake - Mammals make the best music ! br / br /These five fine examples of their species deport themselves here with addictive aplomb. br / br /Marlon Mole thinks that the project is nothing more than a vehicle for br /Ms Sherzinger's self-evident talents. br /Lorna Ladybug considers it unseemly that these young ladies find it br /acceptable to cavort wildly in their undergarments on National Television. br /(Scatty and Gritz, the cubs, are wholly unperturbed by this br /red-blooded behavior - they are in fact positively enthusiastic about it !! ). br / br /Frankly the entire population of The Home Forest would appear to be divided on this one ! br /Words such as "product", "vapid", "shallow' and "fake" have been bandied about wantonly. br / br /... BUT ! ... If "product" it is it must be said that Pussycat Dolls give Very Good Product indeed ! br / br /18 Songs - one or two a little on the mediocre side but on the whole a more than worthy showing. br /Writing, production and performance coalesce in an almost organic way to reveal one of the year's most surprisingly uplifting albums. br / br /Ms Sherzinger does of course have a magnificent voice and it is entirely correct that the spotlight should place her at the centre of the stage but her cohorts and guests, including the estimable Madam Elliot, Mr Dogg, Mr Kelly and various young gentlemen from The Block (among others), add surreal credibility to the overall impact of the entertainment. br / br /Highlights include : "I Hate This Part" ( Ms S. at her very best ); the chugging urban clatter of "Takin' Over The World" ( Giving Destiny's Child a worthy run for their money ); "Out Of This Club", a slinky dancefloor smooch; "Whatchamacallit", a cracking dancefloor stormer and the throwaway but faithfully ebullient closing track "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps". br / br /Heck ! Truth be told The Wolf loved it all ! br / br /Highly Recommended.

Like i said in the title for my review, this album is even better than PCD,although they released fantasic singles from that album the rest of the album were covers. There were two tracks which were wicked on their first album though which were hot stuff(i want you back) and bite the dust.Right here is a review of each track from doll domination: br /When i grow up-10/10 This a fab choice for the first single, but there are even hotter tracks than this song br /Bottle pop-10/10 This song is insanly catchy a great song, love snoops rap,one of my favourite songs off the album br /Whatcha think about that feat missy elliott-10/10 Great choice for the second single,a favourite of mine, watch out for missy singing near the bridge of the song br /I hate this part-10/10 This is also the second single, the video is quite good look for it on youtube,a lovely ballad br /Taking over the world-10/10 Another catchy song, nice to hear melody singing in the bridge with nicole their voices go well together, melody is a brillant singer br /Out of this club feat r kelly and polow Da Don-7/10-I think this should be an uptempo song, instead it is a slow song, not one of my favourites br /Who's gonna love you-10/10 I love this track lovely uptempo number, one of my favourites on the album br /Happily never after-10/10 This lovely ballad was written and co-produced by no other than the sexy man himself ne-yo(the king of rnb),this song is another favourite of mine br /Magic-10/10 I love this funky uptempo number written and co-produced by timbaland, another favourite of mine br /Halo-10/10 Another great ballad from the girls br /In person-6/10 An alright song, not a favourite of mine though br /Elevator-10/10 I love this song, again melody gets to sing a lot of the song, another favourite of mine br /Hush Hush-10/10 A lovely emotional ballad, another favourite of mine br /Love the way you love me-10/10 A brillant uptempo number, love the bridge which melody sings, i feel her part in the song is the best part.Another favourite of mine br /Whatchamacallit-10/10 I love love this song another favourite of mine br /I'm done-10/10 I love this song, a lovely ballad br /Lights,camera,action feat new kids on the block- A great funky uptempo song br /Perhaps,Perhaps,Perhaps-5/10 A cover,i don't like this song but it is rather catchy br /I really like this album i just feel it is time to let the other dolls sing apart from melody and nicole, but you defo need this album in your collection, otherwise you will be missing out on a brillant album br /

5 out of 5 stars You'll be stupid not to get it   November 29, 2008

PCD was good, this is as good as not better. br / br /Ignore all the negative reviews, they aren't hitting the point, you hardly get a group producing such varied genres, from the mature/vulnerable (I Hate This Part) to the club bangers (When I Grow Up). br / br /When I Grow Up - Instant hit. 10/10 br /Bottle Pop - Features Snoop, OK attempt on a flirty electro song. 8/10 br /Whatcha Think About That - Features Missy, the standard PCD type song. 8/10 br /I Hate This Part - heartfelt ballad. 10/10 br /Takin Over' the World - Nice upbeat, Doll dominating song. 9/10 br /Out of this Club - Features R Kelly, bog standard ballad. 7/10 br /Who's Gonna Love U - Taken from Nicoles solo album, amazing addictive ballad, unique. 10/10 br /Happily Never After - again taken from 'Her Name Is Nicole', hearteflet ballad, better than the Backstreet Boys' version. 9/10 br /Magic - Different genre, first of Timabaland ingenious producions, Very well planned beat/rythm. 9.5/10 br /Halo - Just brilliant. A full 10/10. br /In person - Again, something different. A very concert-friendly song. 8/10 br /Elevator - Rihanna type song, normal RB that people love. 9/10 br /Hush Hush - Grammy worthy, 10+/10 br /Love The Way You Love Me - A nice addition. 8/10 br /Watchamacallit - Name comes from their love of having names like Stickwitu etc, ingenious song, easily to get addicted to. 10/10. br /I'm Done - Nicoles affection for Lewis. 9/10 br / br /Baby Love J R Remix - Nice remix. 8/10 br /Lights Camera Action - a bit too sexified. 7/10 br /Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps - Doll Domination's "Sway". I love it. 9/10 br / br /If I Was a Man - Single material dance hit. 9.5/10 br /Space - Nice RB ballad. 8.5/10 br /Don't Wanna Fall in Love - Upbeat, vibrant cover. 8/10 br /Played - slow, nice song. 7.5/10 br /Until U Love U - Its a grower. 9/10 br / br /Verdict: Every single song isnt a crowd stppoer, but 80% are single material, and there are MANY gems. br / br /If you liked ANY PCD song, then I 100% recommend getting this. Just started liking PCD, theres new material for you too. br / br /Not sure? Then listen to: Halo, Hush Hush, Whos Gonna Love You or Elevator. br / br / br /

5 out of 5 stars Pussycat Dolls make dance music!!!   October 4, 2008

I'm sick of the reviews slating this for not being some orchestral masterpiece. The Pussycat Dolls make dance music! br / br /There are so many great dance tracks on here along with a couple of powerful ballads. Yes, once again Nicole takes the spotlight but if the other girls were so unhappy about that they could follow in Carmit's footsteps!! If you get the deluxe addition you will hear a solo track by each of them (Kim's easily being the best- not saying much as the solo tracks, including Nicole's, are very weak but 'Lights, Camera, Action' is very decent) br / br /I have counted a minimum of 8 tracks that I listen to regardless of the mood I'm in along with a few more if I am in the right mood. br / br /My favourites include- 'When I grow Up' (this took a few listens and the live version is infinitely better!) 'I Hate This Part' (One of those slow type songs you always put in playlists because the melody is so strong and Nicole displays possibly her best vocals yet) 'Takin' All Over The World' is a hook-laden mid-tempo track that's perfect for listening to after one of the amazing ballads on here. 'Who's Gonna Love You' is mid-tempo again with mature lyrics and strong enough hooks to be a standout so is a regular in my playlists. 'Magic' isn't the strongest track melody-wise but there's something about it that keeps me listening, it's definitely a grower and that means I won't get bored of it easily. br / br /Now, 'Halo' deserves a longer review. I am shocked by how many critics' reviews completely ignore this stunning track. The music is heavy in this but it suits the song and frankly it's one of the best songs I've heard in a while. Along with Rihanna's 'Umbrella' this has been on repeat for a while now! excellent theme, beat, chorus etc although the only annoying thing is the 'skipped' sound at the start. Whoever came up with that is an idiot!! br / br /'Elevator' is a cleverly written song about improving a relationship and I like songs that put tired themes across in unique ways! This is another good song to listen to after a slow one. 'Hush, Hush' is the second knockout ballad on here with Nicole really hitting the high notes. This needs to be a single as I feel it will help give the Dolls a more mature audience and if Nicole performs it live as well as in the studio people will really sit up and take notice! br / br /Now for the other decent tracks- br / br /'Lights, Camera, Action' is on the deluxe version so technically there are 9 songs I will listen to! br /'Happily Never After' is a decent ballad but not as strong as the others and I prefer upbeat tracks so this is in the when-in-the-mood-for-ballads section! 'In Person' is a great girl-anthem track but songs with a retro feel aren't really my taste (probably why I hated the majority of Christina's Back To Basics) but I know it's a good track (possibly a standout but my taste obviously makes me biased!) 'Love The Way You Love Me' has a decent melody but is mid-tempo and not-quite-strong enough to be a standout but it's certainly not a filler. 'Watchamacallit' is upbeat and very danceable, it is catchy but the filler-style lyrics bring it down. I'm sure plenty of people would say it's a standout but I need great, unique lyrics as well as beats to make a lasting impression. 'I'm Done' is the only other track I'd call decent but would need to be in the mood for. br / br /My utter dislikes are- br / br /Bottle Pop br /Whatcha Think About That br /Out Of This Club br / br /'Bottle Pop' is too repetitive and the theme has been done better (even on the rest of the girls' own album!) nothing makes this track stand out. br / br /'Watcha Think About That' is a little too poppy and well, 'blah' for want of a better word!! It might do well on American radio but the hooks are very weak. br / br /'Out Of This Club' is very wishy-washy for me. It sounds a little '90s and again, nothing stands out about it. br / br /So, only 3 rubbish songs (for me) 8-9 absolute standouts and 5 very good tracks make a fantastic album indeed! (and I would have bought it just for 'Halo' anyway!) br / br /Please ignore the idiots criticising it for being 'manufactured/synthesised superficial pop music etc the Pussycat Dolls make dance music and they make it well!

5 out of 5 stars Lovin this album!   October 21, 2008

The second album from the pussycat dolls, doll domination, is, i think better than the first album PCD. The album is made even better with credible people such as missy elliot and snoop dog featuring on the tracks. It has a good mix of both upbeat and then more chilled songs throughout which means you cant get bored with it. My personal pet hate is an album filled full of cheesy sounding ballads but even the slower songs on this album have a more contemporary feel to them. Probably the worst track on the album is perhaps, perhaps, perhaps (a cover) they did a cover on their first album of baby love and i didnt like that either. It just sounds like something you would hear on a cruise. Apart from that the rest are good songs and the album is good money considering that is had eighteen tracks in all. Enjoy!!
