Acoustic Hearts of Winter November 30, 2006 Lorraine Cousins (uk) 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
i love this album very nice versions of classic christmas songs lovely voices i keep playing this cd all the time i like 'joy to the world' and 'deck the halls' but every song it just really nice
Like the cover photos, the songs have been airbrushed into anonymity September 18, 2009 A. J. Sturgess (North Yorkshire, UK) My best advice is to listen to the samples. If they appeal, then the whole album probably will. The songs have been 'sanitised' to the point where they sound like breathlessly performed Muzak - all very sweet, featureless and dull. Songs like 'God rest ye' and 'Deck the halls' have an inherent liveliness - almost a rollicking quality. All that is gone. Smothered by a blanket of saccahrine daintiness. And as for the rhythm used for 'Deck the halls' ..... that's awful.
br /
br /To my ears, the performers sound like pale imitations of Candice Knight - and she can REALLY pile on the angelic sweetness when she wants to (always to better effect than anything you hear here). The duo sing competently enough but seem too wrapped up in their own delicacy.
br /
br /If you want featureless smoothness to play as background ambience, then maybe this CD will suit. But please try the samples first - you could be very disappointed.
