Customer Reviews: The Red Rocker is back November 19, 2008 spike (united kingdom) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Its good to see the red rocker is back as he's no slouch when it comes to writing and singing his own material especially on tracks like "Loud" and "Cosmic Universal Fashion" which is a mix of the old school heads down rocking and partying like its 1989.

br /Still a damn shame he does not get the recognition he deserves for giving Van Halen another side to their ability to rock as his singing was more in tone with their rocking melodic capabilties in comparison to the corn dog persona of David Lee Roth.
Not his best but bang up to date,, December 7, 2008 Mr. David Green (Chester UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Been waiting on a rockin' album for ages from the Red Rocker after his country/party/beach cd "Livin'it Up" from the other year ,, nice to see Sam is mixin' it up with fellow rockers like Neil Schon, Chad Smith, Billy Duffy, Billy Gibbons as well as Mikey Anthony Sam's very underrated own band The Wabo's !!! Starts off with World Music style title track co written with Iraqi, Steven Lost, very today lyrics on a par with old Van Hagar' Right Here Right Now,,, great album opener,, then into a couple of songs meant to be recorded by Planet Us, a colabaration with Schon, that never really got off the ground, atmospheric lyrics great guitar. Top Stuff, which brings us onto old style Hagar with "Loud" written Sammy style by American songster,John Eddie,, rousing anthem of youth gone wild!! Probably the best 4 songs on cd followed by a rockin' version of "Fight for Your Right" better live than on record, a couple of so/so songs but finishing strong with "On a Roll" an acoustic medley reworking of V H's "Dreams Cabo Wabo" recorded last year live in Cabo San Lucas , I was there man !!! Excellent musicianship from the Wabo's throughout. On the whole a pretty good album but as my old school reports always said "could of done better". Let's just hope Sammy brings his Cabo experience overseas to a larger audience, a European British tour is well overdue !! Come on Sam, we are waiting on ya !! Dave, Chester,UK.
Sammy back with a bang!!! May 1, 2009 twomoonjunction (Brighton UK) Some recent albums from "Red" Sammy had included some slightly mundane tracks interspersed with even more true classics, this album is totally awesome/amazing, back to his good ol chilled out, rockin' self, i'm eagerly awaiting what's next from the only guy that could've replaced Diamond Dave!

br /Well done Sammy, I raise a Cabo to you
Sammy gettin' lazy? February 20, 2009 Jim Spence I'm disappointed with this. I bought it because I've always rated Sammy Hagar as a top notch singer with a Classic Rock voice. I love the Van Halen album Balance, and his early stuff with Montrose.

br /This album is a touch over 40 minutes. Quite refreshing in today's days of mega-albums, but when one of the songs is a cover (Beastie Boys - You gotta fight for your right to Parrrrrrrty), and another is a near 9 minute extended live track with a lot of chatting to the crowd in it I don't really feel that this represents a full album.

br /The first 4 tracks are good, but it goes downhill with the odd cover of the Beastie Boys. It feels like a good EP rather than an album of original material.

br /If you're up for 40 minutes of quality Rock I'd have to recommend the latest Nickelback album Dark Horse instead of this. I've had both in the car for a couple of weeks and I know which one I'll be listening too on the way home at the end of the week.
